VIN Help
Bought a junkyard engine and need to back out the VIN so I can buy the right rebuild parts. I bought a set of Dura-Bond CH-25 cam bearings and journal number 4 was too tight.
The casting number on the back is 12567392. The number on the driver's side deck is C51364287.

Did you get the PCM with this engine from the donor vehicle? The VIN is embedded in the PCM operating system tune file and can be read by people skilled with HP Tuners, or a combination of LS Droid and Tuner Pro RT software.

I know it is the 5.3L. It has drive by wire. What I don't know is the exact year and that's why I want the VIN. I updated my original post with more laser etched numbers. Need to know whether I need the CH-10, CH-23, or CH-25 cam bearings. The last set I tried were the CH-25.
2nd design. Positions 1 and 5 housing bores are 2.348 in. and 2.348 in.

I would still like to know the VIN if someone can talk me through it.
I'm familiar with the differences. But my rotating assembly is in place and it's difficult to measure the bores. Bores 1 and 5 are also in between the two values. With my calibrate calipers it is just less than 2.340".

Struck out with my local dealership parts guy as well as GM parts direct. It would be nice if there was a formula for the derivative VIN on later models.
Someone has to know what is laser etched on the heads and block.
