Default Neutral safety switch

I've got a question regarding the neutral safety switch. I put a 5.3 with a 4L60E in a '53 Cadillac. I'm rewiring the car with a Painless wire kit. They talk about wiring the neutral safety switch, but I'm not sure where it is or how to wire it. I'm use to it on drag cars where it's on the shifter but the Cadillac doesn't have one.
Any advise on what I do here?
is it a matter of adding pins in the main plug that goes into the tranny?
Thanks!

What year is the 4l60e? It should be a black box on the side of the trans, behind where the shifter cable connects.

This should help,

If there isn’t one built into the trans, use a Dakota Digital gss-3000. Works real slick. I was under the impression the 4l80e was the only one with a built in nss.

Truck 4l60e's have the neutral safety switch on the side of the transmission. Depends on what year you have though as to how to wire it up. The older ones had 2 plugs and the newer ones have 1 plug. If your trans has the switch, I can post how to wire it up. It's not too hard, but does require a starter relay.

The trans is out of an 04 Yukon, it has the larger plug. Ive done some digging on line and it looks like i need to use pins 12 and 1. And wire them into a relay with the starter?
I have to go back and watch the LT1swap video to see where those wires went.
does this sound correct?

Yes, those are the wires you need. Pin 12, a pink wire, will be wired to the wire that comes from the ignition switch, the wire that is hot in the "start" position. Pin 1, dark green, will be wired to the terminal 85 on the relay. Terminal 86 will be grounded. Terminal 87 will be a constant hot from the battery, usually through a 40a fuse, and terminal 30 will go to the starter solenoid.

thanks.
that sounds similar to what I found. The only difference is the terminal 87, I don't think painless had coming from the battery. I'll try to get a picture of what I found.

Yes, that will work. I was just going off a factory schematic, the factory just wires them a little differently.

Sorry, that was confusing. I am referring to the connector that goes into the Neutral Safety Switch. From your picture I see it is a Delphi connector of some type but trying to find out which specific one to buy so I can wire mine up.

I believe that is the OEM plug for the trans. I won't be able to confirm that until I get under there tonight, but I'm pretty sure.

Ok, so now I'm confused, the pins from the picture I posted are being used in the plug on the trans.
I followed LT1swap video to make the harness. But where do those wires go?
pin #1 is the dark green on the plug

And pin #12 is the pink wire on the edge of the plug

Can I trace them back in the harness and splice them in? Or do they go to the ECU?

There are 4 of them you can just leave alone, they already go to the PCM. There is one that's a ground, but should already be grounded with other grounds in the harness. The remaining 4 are the back up lights and neutral safety wires. The last green wire is the shift interlock, you don't need that one.

I figured it out, I'm an idiot. I dropped the plug going into the trans and the 4 wires that I need from the picture I posted are the ones I cut when I did the harness. So I was able to wire the relay like the picture..

thanks everyone !
