Default 6.2L with 4L trans factory

Was there ever a factory 6.2L engine paired with a 4 speed auto, or were they all 6 speed autos? Looking at doing a conversion in my 72 Chevy truck, and know I will get better floor pan clearance with the 4 speed auto (and I think my column shift would be easier with just one extra gear), but I do like the 6.2. I know I can mix and match, but was hoping for a simple factory drop-out assembly. Thanks.

I don't believe any factory 6.2L engines ever came with a 4L80e. There are 6L/4L80e combos.

How about any factory 6L with L92/LS3 heads and a 4L? I really like the L92 heads.

The LY6 has the same "LS3-style rectangular port" 823 heads, and there was a ton of those with a 4L80E Trans.
Lower compression, Iron Block, VVT, You planning for any boost?

i've been looking into the same thing as some day i might like an upgrade over my stock ls1. However i my case i need to stick with a 4l60e rather than 4l80e just because of tight clearances.

Unfortunately i haven't found anything other than the GM performance connect and cruise packages. You can get just about any motor with a 4 speed and the controls to make it all work - but it'll cost ya!

You can also go with the Holley Terminator X Max systems for LS engines.

I'm using a Holley Terminator X Max setup with my LY6 / 4L80E combo. I don't have it running yet though, I went with Holley because I wanted to run a DBC throttle body.

Why DBC? If you have a GM A-body, the Impala pedal is practically a bolt in deal and you can retain DBW with the Terminator X Max. I have many customers using this combination of parts with zero issues.

So originally I was going to use a DBW throttle body but stumbled on a Holley Sniper intake, Holley mid mount front runner setup and Holley billet throttle body. When I got home I realized the guy I purchased the stuff from boxed up and gave me the more expensive throttle body instead of the Sniper throttle body. I hated not to use it, per Holley I can always change and add the harness to my Holley computer if I decided to and go DBW.
