Default Porting LS3 Intake

Started messing with an LS3 intake today. Used a 3" hole saw to cut the pillars out. Then used a smaller hole saw to cut what was left at the bottom. Still need to grind the nubs away at the top. Started on the closest one with an 80 grit flapper wheel on a Dremel. That seems to take forever. Going to tape off the holes on the inside, flip it over, and fill with epoxy. Can't wait to start on this 6.0 this winter. Still need a lot of parts though. But I will finally have an LS in my car!

I wanted to do this but it seems the gains are minimal at best. If I had a spare unit I would cut out the bottom. I have a plastic welder with filler rod and I would build up a radius on the runner entries much like the rod mod but by welding a rod in place. Sadly parts are super rare here (netherlands) and Im not paying 800 to hack one up.

Looks good so far. Are you doing the throttle body also? They are easy to do.

The real gains are from adding radius rods.

Very true. I think it was Hot Rod that did a back to back dyno with a ported radius rod LS3 intake vs stock and it was close to the gains of a FAST intake.

I bought this intake for $200 so I could play with it. If I mess up, I'm only out 200. Not to bad I guess.

Does anyone offer a radius rod kit for the DIY crowd?

Ive never seen one. Aluminum, or copper tube/rods might work. I think the hardest part will be bolting the front of the rods through the intake. Might be difficult trying to line up where to drill the holes.
