Default Hydroboost hose question

Are you guys getting your pressure hoses crimped professionally, or are you making your own?

I did my own with -6 PTFE lined hose and AN fittings for the pressure lines, no issues. For the return i just used regular hose and clamps

-4AN or -6AN? What brand hose/fittings did you use?

I used Aeroquip 666-6 hose with fitting part number F66000-6, unlikely it's any cheaper than having the local shop build them up.

I was thinking of using black braided hose for appearance but my go-to hose crimp guy doesn’t work with that stuff....

Plus I can for sure get the lengths and fitting orientation correct if I do it myself in the shop?

But safety is the priority. One place that I called with a -6AN PTFE hose kit told me that I should get hydroboost hoses crimped......not use DIY assemblies......

I did my own too, using Aeroquip PTFE. Very easy to assemble compared to some other brands. I've had them for 6 years and over 30k miles on the car and no issues.

Places like Hydratech braking recommend and sell Aeroquip PTFE.

Thanks Eddiek, I’ve made my own fuel hoses but nothing with the higher pressure. I assumed since everyone sells the stuff it’s up to the task if assembled properly. Just helps to hear it from folks that have done it and lived with it.

The car is too nice to have to clean up a fluid spray....

Mine is -6, sorry about the confusion. That was 4 years ago. I used Russel fittings and hose. The PTFE will take much higher pressure than the regular AN hose. This diagram will give you some of the thread sizes.

Thanks everyone! Anyone use the Vibrant Perfomance stuff on Summit? They have a black braided 6an ptfe. Would look better in my application than silver/stainless.

I used Fragola fittings and PTFE hose with zero issues on 4 conversions with around 30k miles combined. For the low pressure stuff I used tranny hose with Gates Powergrip heat shrink clamps and have had no leaks. HTH.

I used red horse fittings and their ptfe high pressure line for the pressure side. I think their fittings and hose are really easy to assemble.
