I want to swap in a LY6, into a 1968 Skylark.
I'm getting a complete motor with AC pump.
Do i have to relocate the AC pump or will it fit in stock location?

Is it the big Frigidaire pump used in the 60's and 70's? If so there might not be any brackets to adapt it. You might need to adapt one of the smaller Japanese pumps, as there are many brackets to adapt those.

i'm using the AC pump that comes with the motor.
will it fit or do i need to notch the crossmember?
You first would need brackets to bolt it to an LS engine, to determine where it will be positioned, THEN worry about notching anything.
And I ask again, is it the BIG Frigidaire pump? There might not be any brackets for it.
The stock Denso truck A/C compressor will fit if you use an engine mounting method that was designed to allow it. The the engine mounting brackets/motor mounts from the Hooker Blackheart A-body LS swap system are an example of this.
With the headers the mount location for the stock pump is blocked. Frame clearance will be close. Blackheart system looks to have addressed this. In my '69 GS the A/C wouldn't fit easily so I ditched that idea.

The 1999 5.3 liter LM7 GMC Sierra truck AC compressor fits an A-body very nicely with the Holley forward bias engine mounts. This is a Denso compressor p/n 471-9186 (or ABC Auto Parts p/n 15-22144) but it did help to purchase a dual hose refrigerant adapter from Nostalgic AC (their p/n "GM1600") for the best layout of the hoses. No complaints and clears the passenger side frame rail and my Hooker Blackheart headers with ease.
