Very nice Andrew. Very clean wiring job. What are you using for the injector labels and clear heat shrink? I picked up some of that fuzzy tape last year and It works so much nicer than electrical tape. NO sticky glue.

Prowire.com sells a complete engine harness label kit that included the clear heat shrink.

Progress has been slow, for various reasons, but today I received a PWM signal generator so that I could test the Chevy Volt fans:

New fans are on my list. Please update us on how you get it wired up to Holley.

Andrew,
On previous posts I think you recommended a 2008 Corvette PWM fan? Is there a reason the dual Volt fans are a better solution? I'm about ready to work on the cooling system on my 1980 Camaro LS swap.

Are you changing to Ridetech on the front suspension? If so are you staying with the AFX spindles?

Yes, going with the Strong Arm front suspension and keeping my ATS AFX spindles. This was definitely a consideration, because I like the ATS spindle and I like the brakes that I currently have.

Times change. When I built the Cougar in 2015 I used the C6 fan and its controller. I recommended that combination for a long time. But technology moves on and I no longer recommend that combination of parts. Not because it doesn't work well, but because of a combination of cost and new better options.

The Volt fans are a better solution because:

1. Each fan is rated at 300 watts, for a total of 600watts. The C6 Corvette fan is 400 watts.
2. The Volt fans are brushless and have an integrated controller. The C6 fan is an older brushed design and uses an external controller.
3. Cost. By the time you order the C6 controller and get the wiring for it, it adds up (although JY options are still cheap). The Volt fans can be had fr $75-125 at a salvage yard. Make sure you get the mating connectors.

Any of the available outputs on the I/O connector can be wires directly to the small signal wire on the fans. The signal is split, so both fans operate at the same time.

Do the Volt vans require a PWM+ or PWM- signal?

We think alike. I have a set of AFX spindles that I purchased when I thought ATS might go out of business. Also with SPC changing designs on their arms and SC&C going out of business, I was especially curious of the compatibility of the Ridetech suspension and the AFX spindles. I also like the Ridetech spherical bushings on the rear control arms. As always, I enjoy the build updates.

What are the dimensions of the Volt fans? Andrew, did you already like the C7 fan?

I just went and checked my source (Project GatTagO's post about them) and no thickness dimension to be found.
They look to be about 5-6" thick, but don't hold me to it.
Do a search on PWM cooling fans and you might find the (OP is LSswap) thread. I don't know how to post links,
PM Project GatTaGo. He could check it out for you.
I hope this helps a bit.

From the radiator core, the fans are about 3.75" deep.
