Default Starting issue

I searched but can't find the answer. I have an ls1 in my 67 Chevelle. It's run great for years, however, lately it's had starting issues. I have a good new battery, new alternator, but sometimes (more often than not lately) I get one strong click when I turn the key and nothing else. I'm guessing that is the starter solenoid. It dosen't even try to turn over. It will then occasionally start up, usually softly (doesn't fire up strongly like it used to). I'm thinking there is a loose connection or ground somewhere? Maybe a bad starter? Any thoughts? I know it's impossible to diagnose via the internet, but I'm trying to find a good place to start. Thanks!

Try a new starter. If that's not it return it.

Start with the easy button ! Make sure the battery connections are clean and secure. Then move on with other wiring condition and connections

Well after looking at all the connections it looks as though the culprit was a loose wire going to the starter relay. For once a problem that didn’t require new parts and was simple! Thanks for everyone’s input.

Try the correct forum, for this type of issue.
AKA: tune/diagnostics.

Too late, Geezer. It's a done deal, and resolved.

I thought I solved the issue but I was wrong. I re-posted in the suggested forum

@occhevelle I had a similar issue and it came down to the battery not having a good ground, and the battery connections were somewhat loose. I chased voltage all over the car and spent days on what was a simple issue. I would make sure you grounds are tight and clean and then go from there. Good luck!
