Hydraboost Block off Fitting?
Hydraboost Block off Fitting? I have the hydraboost blocked off (2004 Avalance 5.3). I don't have tools that can crimp off the pipe. So far I've been blocking it off with rubber caps that have to be replaced every so often due to deterioration

- Is it possible to remove the hydraboost pipe and install a block off fitting?
- In the future when the power steering pump may need replaced, is there a stock replacement that's the same except without the hydraboost?

I'm not sure what a good way to block off that fitting is, but if you want to change the pump, any pump off of a truck that didn't have hydroboost will work. They are actually easier to find because most trucks use vacuum brake boosters.
OK, thanks. Do you know if all the truck pumps mount essentially the same way? If I can't find a way to crimp this fitting off it may be worth it to me to just put a non-hydra pump on it.
My buddy had the same problem so he ordered a reservoir from Dorman without the Hydro boost fitting and switched it for the one on the pump, just make sure you get one thats shaped like the one you have so it clears everything, over the years GN Saginaw made quite a few different shapes of those "ham can" reservoirs. had the same problem with rubber caps deteriorating so i just used some power steering hose with a bolt plugged in the end and hose clamps. lots of work to replace reservoirs imo. or even better do a hydroboost swap
