Default Electric fan wiring

I've researched but can't find anything.
2001 ss camaro ecm and ls1in a 56 chev. EBay dual electric fans. Ecm flashed for dual fans so I have fan 1 and fan 2 wires. I connected one each to the fans, then grounded the fans to frame. I'm getting a po480 code and no fans. I've read that the ecm grounds the fans to turn them on but I don't understand how...I only have fan 1 and fans wires. Should I not have grounded the fans?
Thanks for any help...this is my first ls swap!

You need relays to control those fans. Let's hope you have not fried those fan circuits by running way, way too many amps through that area of the printed circuit board. The PCM grounds the control relay, not the fans themselves.

Fan control wires go to ground to turn on a fan relay. Your ecm should be okay as it sounds like you never even had power tied to fans

Here's one if you want to roll your own...this makes them work like GM intended.

Thanks guys and sorry for not getting back...I couldn't log in! I have the relays and my harness was wired for 2 fans. I believe the wires were green and blue. That's the 2 wires I connected to fans, ran the grounds together to frame.

The green and blue wires should go to the relays, not the fans themselves, is that what you mean? Hooking those wires directly to the fan will burn up the drivers in the PCM,

no...my harness was made for me. The relays were wired in. Over by the front driver side, the fan wires 1&2 exited the harness.

If your harness was custom made then there is really no way for us to instruct you on its proper wiring setup. The person who made it will have to tell you that.

However, that picture there looks suspiciously like a standard 2 relay/4fuse setup that nearly every LS swap uses for the engine, coils, fuel pump. And fans pulls more than 15amps...so that picture, at least to me, looks like the engine relays and not the fan. The fans also use 10ga wire for the supply and grounds and if the green and blue wires you have there are like 18ga like what's in a factory harness...then you do not have built in fan wiring and wired it straight to the ECM.
