I think he’s gonna have to go longitudinal - the Fit is really narrow. Or Frankenflares.

I am going longitudinal the fit is super narrow, like S10 narrow, but I am making a wide body kit for it.

Back in the early 90's when I was in High School, there was a guy in our town who had a lifted, 4wd, small block powered 77 Civic. He took the front seats out, moved the pedals back and had a swing away steering column. He drove from the back seat. Pretty cool for the time.

I always thought a compact swapped car would be a blast with a very high winding 4.8 and a stick. Not too much torque so as to just sit and spin, but rather some high rpm gear jamming fun!

Ahh the Opel trans, being rated at 295ft/lb how do they hold up to the V8 torque?

Default Honda Fit LS swap mid engine Tornado tranny

Hey just wanted to see if you ever did this swap. I'm thinking about using a Tornado drivetrain in the rear to make a wheelie monster Honda Fit. In this configuration the center of the engine sits a little bit rearward of the axles so it would almost be a rear engine situation (to aid with the wheelies). Anyway just wanted to get some feedback. Thanks!

No I didn't get around to ever finishing it, but the only thing that was super custom about the whole setup was the the fire wall and driveshaft, otherwise it kinda of all just fit

Damn. I was hoping you'd made progress with this idea. It was sick and wrong which I why I loved it. Kinda like a 'Busa-swapped Smart car...on steroids.

Default Honda Fit with Tornado swap in the rear

Hey what if we put a toronado engine / transmission in the back of a Honda Fit and kept the front Honda engine / transmission intact? That way I could drive around town on the Honda engine but then switch over to the rear engine at will. Now that would be cool! Try to keep it as stock looking as possible. What do you guys think?

That would be a slick ride if the Honda trans was a manual for minimal drag. The Toronado transmission would likely be a lot of drag, even in Neutral, and the extra weight from the second motor/transmission would likely drag that Honda motor down a lot. Still, what a way to catch someone off guard, LOL.

Oh yeah great point, I didn't even think about drag. Thanks for your input, happy holidays!

I'm not trying to rain on your parade. I think the concept is a great idea. The weak point would be lugging around 1200# of running gear with an economy minded 4 banger. It can be done, but drivability in non-LS mode will surely suffer.

Aside from that, Happy New Year!
