C5 Filter/Regulator leak at outlet...

C5 Filter/Regulator leak at outlet... I purchased a C5 filter/regulator on Amazon from Evil Energy. Not many reviews, but all good.
It is leaking like a sieve at the outlet end. I thought maybe the fuel line part that plugged into it, and/or the compression fittings were bad. I purchased new of all that, and it still leaks like a sieve.
I'm sure there is a question here: I have a short piece of fuel line plugged into it, then connect to a Dorman fuel check valve via compression nut/compression sleeve. It is leaking at the connection to the regulator.
Am I missing something? Any ideas?

I might add that when I looked down into the outlet end wjhen I was changing the fuel line piece. it appeared that the metal clip for the fuel line was on top of the 0-ring. So I just saw metal, and I could see a hint of what I assumed was the 0-ring under the clip. Is that the way it should look?

I just pulled the unit off of the car. I find that the short fuel line piece plugged into the filter can be wobbled a round a bit. {It is very obviously leaking from the fuel line into the outlet, not at the sleeves.)
I was thinking that wobbling was not ideal either
I put the fuel line into the old one again, and solid...no wobbling. I'm going to find a different source for the filter/regulator.
Any suggestions for source? I find the price to vary from $35 to $175. Something is wrong with that

I suggest trying Wix / NAPA filter.
I had a massive leak pouring fuel from the outlet of a cheapie filter (brand new). Leak would stop if I pressed on the fitting. Swapped out to a Wix filter and no leak.
