For the average guy without an 526ci SMX in their ride, I wonder how the cooling system is setup to require such high CFM to keep things cool. I run a small radiator (scirocco/pro stock style) with small fan rated under 2000CFM and the thing stays incredibly cool even in traffic. Guessing the electric pump with big free flowing lines with no thermostat has a good bit to do with it, since it ran 15-20* warmer with the OEM water pump assembly in place.
Something that alot of people may not consider.... if you have a cramped under hood space and not alot of spaces for the air to escape, that actually decreases the effective cfm of the fans....so I could see where you'd benefit from stronger fans to help force more air out. I know my car will run 195-205 at idle in 85-88f and higher than that in 90+temps....I can pop the hood and it'll cool back down to 180ish....the crevices for air to escape are small on my car....I just gave myself an idea....raise the back of the hood a tad and get rid of the weatherstrip gasket on the rear of the hood except for maybe two end pieces...

Stock Fbody fans are killer. I also like Derale 16925s. Small and can be used as pushers if space dictates.

I'm using a brushless fan from a volvo.

The shroud is 24 x 17.5 and 4" deep. It's brushless and PWM controlled and has a built in 3 phase brushless controller made by Bosch.

Full power was at 7-10% duty and low speed was 90%. anywhere outside that range it shuts off, so 0% or 100% duty are off.

came in these:
04-04 - S60 2.5T, 2.5T AWD, R, T5
05-09 - S60 2.5T, 2.5T AWD, R, T5
06-09 - S60 AWD 2.5T AWD
06-09 - S60 FWD 2.5T FWD
05-06 - S80 2.5T, 2.5T AWD
04-04 - V70 2.5T, 2.5T AWD, R, T5
05-07 - V70 2.5T, R, T5
05-07 - XC70 Base, Ocean Race

Super powerful, thing almost hovers at full power of 45A.

Cut out all the excess plastic and mounted on the radiator. Moved the power connector outside the fan and sealed up any holes.

Looks like the Volvo fan is similar to the C7 Corvette fan, which is rated at 600watts.

Sorry to dig up an older thread. What did you use to activate the PWM temp sensor wire?
OOPS just saw who you are. Did you use your Arduino board to run this?

I use the same fan in two different projects cars. In the Turbo C3, I have arduino control the fan.
In my Turbo 5 speed minivan, I use a pwm generator set to a fixed speed, in place of the on/off relay used to turn the original fan on.
