Is it at the extreme forward end of its travel? If "NO", it is too long.
And is it actually pushing against the tailshaft seal? If "YES", it is too long.

It’s seated exactly where it goes against the diff. It’s pushing against the dust seal not the seal that actually seals the fluid.

Sounds like a little too long. It should not push against any seal

How far forward can you still push it inside?

I actually think it is fine. The T56 Magnum has a dust boot, which is what the yoke is crushing a little bit. The actual seal is further inside.

Considering that this is a BMW with IRS, and the driveshaft isn't going to move forward or back hardly at all, I'd run it.

The dust boot may shred until it is no longer too long.

Yes, probably so...or it can be trimmed.

I'll predict that they say there's something else wrong. Pick one:
  • The engine is mounted too far back.
  • The bell housing is wrong (maybe from a truck?)
  • The diff is wrong (too long on the pinion end) or mounted wrong
  • If I put my mind to it, I could probably think of several other things.
If there's any way to slide the engine forward a quarter inch to a half inch, I'd do that.

And if there's no other way to gain clearance, I'd trim that dust seal instead of letting the thing shred itself until it has clearance.

Default Mm

From my ls e36 swap.., you may be able to shimmy the engine to the front a few mm w the tolerance of the mm to block and mm to frame.

as stated due to fixed mount irs there is no change in pinion angle w load.
