Lq9 to l96
looking for a new crate oem motor and all I can come across new is l96 Part number 19416591. It’s showing vin code n is a lq9. Any way the l96 would swap over?
A stock L96 has 360HP and 9.6:1 compression which matches the compression of an LQ4 which is what is in your Isuzu now, even though it wasn't made after 07.
You might have an L96 in it now.
You do NOT have an LQ9 in it as equipped. It was strictly a performance truck engine put only in GM trucks, not Isuzus.
The LQ9 was a higher compression LQ4. I doubt they put that high a compression engine in Isuzu work trucks.
They usually came with the LQ4, which is what I bet you have.
How are you using your truck? What kind of back does it have on it? Flat bed/box truck?
What are you wanting to get out of the new engine.

I was personally under the impression that ALL LQ4/LQ9 engines were 24x. Not sure if I missed later on they were swapped to 58x or if that was just a for those Isuzu trucks.
if you want too that can be personally checked out by looking at the sensor on n the side of the block. Grey color 58x, black color 24x.
other things to consider.
look at the front cover to see if the engine you are getting or have has VVT
look to see if the engine you have or getting has DOD lifters.
is your set up drive by wire or drive by cable?
3 bolt vs 4 bolt throttle body.
oil pan, windage tray and oil pickup tube.
Cathedral port heads vs Rectangular port heads, the intakes don’t interchange with out a adapter.
just trying to throw a few things up there so there is less possibility of something being wrong while swapping.
Also do you know what injector size your original engine has?
that replacement engine you are looking at I think has the larger flex fuel injectors and VVT.

No Gen IV 6.0 truck engines come without VVT.
I would source a reputable reman LQ4.
You say the VIN has an "N" which, in a GM truck, indicates an LQ9. You do NOT have a GM truck. It is an Isuzu truck with a GM engine. Different animal with different VIN's.
Pull the heads off the old one. If pistons are dished, it's an LQ4. Flat tops, LQ9.
