92 YJ with 4.8L
I have a 4.8 LQ4 in my 92 YJ with a 4L60 behind it. It is running but lacking power. I had an issue with the filter/regulator in that I paid $100 for an Amaon Evil Enegry Filter. I wasnt getting enough pressure (52psi)and the return line was always open. When I pulled the filter I could lock the outlet and low on the inlet and it there was zero resistance to the return. I now have an AC Delco filter and 60psi. I whave a walbro 255 in the fuel tank and it puts out lots.
So still have power issues. The MAF is on a 90 elbow right off the intake and a 4" conical filter on that, so very short. I pulled the filter and improved performace. I rotate the MAF so the vane is vertical and that helped some. It is better but stil severely lacking. Is my intake tooo short. With the MAF out and the filter on the end of the intake performace is poor. witht e MAF out but plugged in and no filter performnce seems good but engine misses frequently.
Do I need to get more distance between the MAF and the intake and the filter. The filter is brand new and seems to be decent.
I have been borrowing a code reader so dont hae codes today. I am going to buy one.
Help??
I have moved the MAF 6" further away, cleaned the TB and run 12 guage wire to the fuel pump for power and ground. I did my first run and it was great! I tidied up some wires and other small issues and did a second run and back to no power!!! I wondered about it being better cold than warm. Tried multiple things and finally removed the fuel cap. Not perfect but still a big improvement. I had vented the cap but aparenty not enough. I had also plugged the vent line that ran foward to the charcoal canister. I will vent it though a filter/breather and see what happens. Shifting is harsh but that may be the programming.
Any other thoughts on the fuel system?
I am all ears at this point

He suggested that I go to an ECM from an 05 as they don’t have the same issue and that means also changing the throttle controller.
That is my plan unless anyone has a solution
cheers
