Nice car. I also have a 71 convertible that's getting an ls. I'm just about ready to put the frame on. This is what I'm doing. I have a 2010 LY6 block with 243 heads and TBSS intake with accessories from an 06 Rainier (it has a smaller pulley on the PS pump). I'm using a 4L80 with it. I bought the Holley forward mounts and the 302-3 pan. I think I have speed engineering headers. Originally was planning to use. the fbody pan, but we were at ls fest and decided the sure fit was worth the money. We are going to make a trans cross member. I'm going with a megasquirt and their trans controller (cable drive). We haven't decided if we are going to modify the stock gas tank, replace it or get a fuel mat. I'll probably get a new ls style radiator so I don't have to worry about a 50 year old one on the road. Also adding grand cherokee steering box, a flex fuel sensor, cruise from an s-10, brakes from a c6 and 373 gears. If you want to use your stock shifter look at shiftworks.

Good luck with whatever you decide.
