@ rkupon1 Can you provide a part number for the powermasters alternator you used? Also what current output is it?

Hawks Motorsports also sells a 2.85" pulley. I am using it with my Powermaster alternator and the Hi-mount accessory drive with a LSA crank pulley. I have the mid-mount on another car and I plan to install the same 2.85" pulley on the alternator that came with the mid-mount.

Thanks rkupon1! I have the same predicament, as I have the Holley alternator that I haven't used yet. I'm torn between installing a larger pulley and running it, or going with the Powermaster 854009-1 and larger pulley like you did.

You'll need a larger pulley regardless of the alternator. I'd try the Holley alternator first with a larger pulley.

So to revive this thread.
I ordered the Holley cooling manifold, harmonic balancer, and water pump(the pump I pretty sure is a standard lt1 pump but it wasn't expensive)

The harmonic balancer is 100% custom sized by them. You can do some screwy stuff by getting a racing one and an add on but thats too much messing around for me.

The power steering pump, alternator, tensioner and idler pulley can be sourced after market. The just measure your own belt.

The p/s is a type 2 Saginaw pump
The alternator is a ad244 truck alternator you just need to take the back over off and add a stud to move the positive post to the side.
The idler is just an idler. They tell you the size on holley
And the tensioner is a 2000s jeep wrangler tensioner
The thermostat housing and thermostat should jsut be standard? Not 100% sure. But I want a swivle housing anyways since I have no idea how any of this will fit my car 😂

Im not running the a/c so I will have some messing around to do(I may just make a bolt on idler delete)

I have part numbers and what not if people want them

Thanks for the update. I have seen some info that the Holley alternator/AD244 pulley is too small and will burn up the bearing, especially at higher rpm. I forget the numbers but the ratio is too high and the pulley needs to be changed out.

Do you have any info on this? Appreciate your help and info

PowerMaster says to limit alternator RPM to 18.5k. measure the pulleys and do the math based on your particular combination.

Yea from the vids I'm seeing the Holley pulley is the same size? But I'm not running a/c so I will have some figuring out to do.

The Holley pulley is smaller than stock. The PowerMaster alternator that I got also had a smaller than stock pulley. I had a nice chat with the tech at PowerMaster and he suggested a 2.75" pulley for my application, which is a stock LSA lower balancer and an RPM limit of 7k RPM.

I found a 2.85" pulley from Hawks Motorsports and it works great. The datalogs from LS Fest showed 14.2volts all the way to redline.

This is Holleys pulley size.

Its very close to the same size as the 2018 ambulance I'm working on(hard to tell with the belt on but it's within a mm).

Also I will be running a stock acdelco alternator.
This is a cheaper get it running build. Get the car together, then begin the fun upgrades.

The PowerMaster alternator that I got had a 2" pulley. The Holley one does appear to be stock truck size.

Awesome. I currently don't even know if my car has power steering or manual 😂.
I did a basic look over the car, bought it for 1000$ then got an Ls for free. So I have been focused on the engine.

Once engine is done and ready I'll pulled the body off and do a massive go over of the car. (76 corvette)

Pretty sure every Corvette of that vintage has power steering.

I can tell you that my 76 has power steering. While I do see it listed as an option in my searching online, it looks like over 99% of them had it. But you know the saying: I read it on the internet so of course it's true...
