The 3 of us easily have over 100 years of combined hotrodding experience.

Progress is being made with TurboLamik and Holley EFI integration. On our last testing session we were able to send transmission temperature, gear and torque cut request from the TurboLamik to the Holley ECU. There are more channels that will be added, but those are the 3 big ones that are the most useful.

My friend with the Fairlane is waiting to get into his fabricator for a transmission mount and a floor patch. He had to cut the transmission tunnel in order to fit the 8HP and get it up high for a reasonable angle relative to the rocker panels.

When I first started looking into using the 8HP70, the first things I came across was how unreliable the controllers were, because the first controllers that came up was HTG. After more digging I was able to find TurboLamik, which is the controller that I will be using. Heck, even the company that is going to make my transmission adapter knew of the drama based around the HTG controller and was hesitant to make adapters because of this. He had never heard of the TurboLamik controller until I told him about them.

I will be using a Haltech R3 with the TurboLamik controller. While I am not a computer programmer, I hope to help with the integration of the Haltech lineup to the TurboLamik controller, if needed!

I had just seen that their #2 guy has departed, but I haven't seen anything related to why. Their controller has all the right features, but something about them just isn't cutting it!

Car is semi on the road. Had an issue with the computer that turbolamik took care of right away(They are awesome!!)

With the little drive around the block I did several times testing things out.. this transmission is SWEEEET!! For a junk yard 500 dollar trans.. It shifts exactly how I want. Crip, launches you forward, and positive. The gear spacing is perfect as well and even using 1st gear is going to be a nice plus with some drag radials! The DCT sequential shifter I'm using really wraps up the entire build with how it feels so connected to the trans.

10/10 would do again!
Awesome to hear!! Whats the details on the motor? Let's see some photos of the shifter!

Your cam isn't too far off from mine... You're using the stock converter, correct?

Dang, was hoping for a pic of the shifter installed haha looks nice though! Are you using the BMW shifter?

Yeah stock converter. After running it, I would say it could use a higher stall(you can feel it pulling at idle/drop rpm shifting into drive or reverse)

I am only using this shifter, I'll try to get a picture... It's installed on the floor but need to redo thr console. Plate I made

Super helpful info, thank you. How are you able to engage Park and reverse with just that shifter?

The TurboLamik allows you to program various moves of the shifter to do different things. So two clicks up might mean Park, just as an example.

This is tunable. Did you wire the brake pedal to the TurboLamik?

Yes however due to the RPM issue we didn't finalize anything-- I did notice the sleep or slip function on the forum
Hope to get it back on the road this weekend. Had a collapsed rear brake line of all things pop up

Pretty much what Andrew said. Currently it's 2 forward to get to reverse then 1 back to go drive. The shifter is very stiff(in a positive way) so you really can't accidentally bump it.
Here it is installed. Don't mind the mess currently 😂

Although mine is a DCT, I'm thinking of putting in a custom touchscreen to select P, R, D and to select shifting aggressiveness and also display current gear. Maybe even engage the parking pawl. Probably communicate to trans controller with canbus. Or maybe just switches to select P, R, D and screen to show gears.

I thought about that myself too.
I decided I'd rather just get a gear indicator screen and call it a day since there no where I want to put that key pad.

Pretty soon you'll be able to display the Gear on a Holley dash.

I know, and just looking at the prices of the freaking gear indicator.. I'll gladly put the money toward a holley dash!
How's terminator integration going? Hoping to be driving around more this weekend!

Last season I ran my Dodge 8HP70 (behind a turbo LQ4) via TurboLamik and while it worked well it was never quite what I wanted it to be and since its largely a black box controller there was very little to do with it.
Thats why I was so excited to hear MaxxECU working on custom firmware for 8HP control via CAN. I already run my motor on MaxxECU Race so it'd be nice for a number of reasons.

Well they finally announced today that they're rolling out Beta testing.

What exactly do you mean by "Black Box controller"?
