There is an ASTON Martin 8HP70 case that's used in a transaxle application. That seems to be the most viable transmission to adapt for transaxle Corvettes.

Note above edit. Just FYI

There are a couple of Aston transaxles on ebay...

https://www.ebay.com/itm/235866228596 - $8k but lots of good pictures
https://www.ebay.com/itm/377039971444 - $2k

The differential isn't shaped anything like a C5/C6/C7 diff. It seems like the axle on the left side would need to be considerably shorter than the one on the right.
And there appears to be a motor hanging even further off to the side (maybe to adjust the diff slip/lock?). It looks like it sticks out far enough to collide with the frame rail.

This doesn't fill me with hope.

That would be my guess. An E-Diff.

My buddy and I running our 8hp70 swapped trucks. OBS is a 403, Blazer is a 408. Both are Holley w/Turbolamik tuned by Andrew Borodin, Dr. Efi.

It's on youtube, but there's no real video content in it, so it's probably better to just listen to it through a podcast app.

I want one in my C5 now, because fast solid shifts with paddle control sounds really fun. But making it fit without losing the transaxle layout sounds hard...
There are kits to put powerglides and 4L80Es in the later vettes, Some very big billet adapters and somewhere north of 6 Grand $$$$
I imagine one could be made for the 8HP but what a lot of work and who knows how many would sell

Powerglides and 4L80s are good options for drag racing, but the 8HP is interesting to me for track days.

I drove a friends 3-series last summer and was really impressed. It's the first auto I've driven that I actually liked. It shifts quicker than I do, the torque converter felt like it was locked solid until we came to a stop, and there are enough gears to keep RPM right where I wanted it... not at all what I expected. It's like a third kind of transmission now - there's manuals, regular automatics, and ZF 8HPs.

Actually, four kinds. My wife's Telsa has no torque converter so it's not an automatic, but also no clutch so it's not a manual. And first gear goes to 160mph so there's no need for a second or third gear...
