Sorry, Im not super versed in all the variants of GM ECUs but if we cannot get data over CAN then we can always manually connect to RPM, TPS and MAP and get the gearbox operational

0411 ECU use single wire J1850 VPW protocol. I am not sure the data rate is fast enough for trans control even if it was converted to CAN.
Is there any way to use this trans with a column shifter, Like in a squarebody C10 ?
not likely. The shifter is just a cable. The detent you "feel" is mechanical and in your current trans. These 8hp s are electrical, no mechanical. If theres a way you could rig up a linear sensor with detent stops....lemme know. Id like to do the same in my Chevy OBS. It has a bench seat. My chevelle is getting the bmw shifter in my center console.

Well..... it's dooable, but not trivial. Here's what I propose.
If you could hook your cable up to a shift selector, like a 4l60e one for example.
That selector can translate your cable position to electrical switches. It can also take care of you starter only starting in neutral or park and can operate your reverse light.
The detents are not in the selector but rather in the trans, so you'd need to rig the detent.
If you want to take it a step further, I could rig up a processor to send whatever CANBUS messages you want for each shifter position.

Yes, but it will require some work. These transmission done use a cable, so you'll need to make a mechanism that captures the shift lever at the various shifter locations. Then the lever actuates a linear 0-5v sensor and this can be programmed for selecting PRND.
Alternatively, you can use a simple multi position potentiometer for selecting PRND.
To illustrate my interest in this swap into my 95 C1500, below is a picture of where I plan to place a 7 segment display from Turbo Lamik.
I'm in the planning stages and I have searched the Turbo Lamik Facebook Community page. Lots of good info, but what I can't find is solid info on what GM ECMs are compatible with CAN.
The Lamik website lists the following:
60- Camaro SS, Silverado (09-15r) ECU E38
61- Trailblazer, Saab ECU E37
62- LS2 E38
I have a GM 411 pcm in the truck today. It is very clear that the 411 (24X crank reluctor) has no option for CAN and will need analog signals (Brake pedal, TPS, RPM, MAP) to the Lamik TCM.
An option I have is to use the ECM and LS2 from my Saab 9-7X Aero when I no longer need for a winter car. This is an 58X crank and it is known that I need to keep the 58X crank with the ECM. This ECM is a E67. This is where my question lies. The Lamik website lists the E38 and E37 as CAN compatible. The E67 is the same generation as the E38, but is not listed.
So I have 2 questions:
1. Is the E67 ECM compatible with the Lamik using CAN? If yes, will the E67 cut and blip the throttle when commanded by the Lamik during shifts?
2. When using the Lamik with Analog inputs, is the shifting harsh under WOT? , Is the life of the trans greatly reduced when we don't have a way to cut throttle between shifts?
I think I'm just going to install they Holley system and piggyback my factory ecu, cause I was factory guages, etc to work. I'll just tune out CELs that pop up. This way, whatever trans controller I use, I'll get more out of the transmission.

That will work great. Send me an email if I can help with the tuning. Email: projectgattago@gmail.com
Bigger scope now with the CANTCU, been able to flash TCU right from its software is a huge positive and opening up the scope for use of GEN3 8HPxx boxes is a huge step forwards.
Ken is an absolute support machine too, always active on the FB group when ppl hit issues.
I have a lead on a trans locally. Im Canada so your president hates us and thus the $$ exchange rate SUCKS !
Trans: about $1100 US$
Turbolamik Controller: $2500 US$
Adapter plates : $1400 US$
Custom CV? driveshaft: $1100 + US$
Thats about $9000 canuk bux LOL. Ouch. This thing better be good.
