I read an watched a few videos an I saw more positive things said about domi so I went that route
also i picked up the transmission today
decided im going to keep the truck around 700hp
and went with the 8hp70 got it for $600 with 6 month warranty from a wreaking yard Picked up in my work van while on the clock
Hell yeah! I'm hoping to pick up a third trans this weekend(1 for 500(in the car now), 1(truck) for 300, and this one for 400) so I can learn how to rebuild them

What kind of mileage are y'all seeing on these $500-600 transmissions? The only ones in my area that are that cheap are 100k-ish mile police take-outs. I've been looking for one with 50k or less, but it looks like that's going to run me $1500 or more. Not terrible, but that's pushing this project into the $6k range with the other costs.

this one I picked up has 62k on it
not the lowest on miles but the fluid looked good and didn’t smell burnt also no signs of leaks (stains on casing) so I was comfortable with the purchase for the price then the guy offered a 6month warranty so I figured..why not

As said above car part.com and Facebook market place.
Car part was the best.
Might try to snag a couple tomorrow if i can!
I wouldn't work with seems legit again. The name alone says everything.
100% agree on Seems Legit. We had issues with the Seems Legit stuff fitting n working. Waste of time dealing with them. Ended up getting it all fixed at a local machine shop instead.
Greg at turbolamik is a stand up guy to do business with.

Yep... He sold a buddy of mine htg and ghosted him with support. He doesn't have any autoshifting. I'm trying to get him to switch to turbolamik but he's eyeing sound German so we'll see.
I try to persuade anyone from working with them if I can after what he's been though. He spent 9 grand with them.
Turbokamik and Greg are 100 percent worth every penny with the time/support/guidance on their systems. Now that I have 3 of these transmissions... I'm hopeful to help someone else do the swap and spread the joy!
Well my adapter plate came in last night
picking up a 8hp90 in about a week
my plan is to use factory ecu with turbolamik
in my 02 Silverado (turbo 6.2 rcsb)
How much power is your truck making? Please post up some videos when it is done! That is going to be fun. Nice looking truck also! Love the wheels.
I got my car running with the 8HP. I am using the MaxxECU with an 8HP70 from a 2018 Charger. I am also using a Charger shifter. The 8HP awesome for a legit street car. Shifts extremely fast. Maxx has a ton of flexibility for dialing in the shifts. Its got the stock torque converter in it and I can easily get 3500rpm and 7psi on the transbrake. Its a stock gen4 5.3, Summit stage 2 cam, VS g45 76mm.
Could you post up some video of this car in action? What kind of power do you think it is making? Weight of the car with driver?

I put over 600 miles on the 8HP in about a month, before it started snowing here. Its been awesome. Have not pushed it too hard yet since I didn't want to put it on ethanol before it sits all winter. I was mostly in the 6-8psi range. I did get it up to 12-13psi one day and it still worked great. I will crank it up in the spring on E85. Have not had a chance to weigh it, but I don't see it being under 3400lbs w/ me in it.
Here is a crappy video. I tried to put the phone in my pocket to record, but that didn't quite work. Good audio at least. This was 2nd - 5th gear on ~7-8psi. I was shifting it manually.

Yes, I am doing fuel and ignition cuts on the shift. Probably more aggressive than I need. But wanted to keep on the safe side until I get more time to play with it.
TurboLamik gets data using GM CAN from GM CAN starting with E-3x all the way to E-9X ECUs (and many others)
CAN commiunication is the same and there are minor changes on how it reports torque which can be calibrated in our TCU
Today we installed a TurboLamik TCU for Bowler performance Transmissions for their trans dyno and we thought we would need to add the can protocol to our TCU but it turned out to be the same as previous versions.
Their trans dyno is using LT1 engine with Chevrolet Performance LT1 Engine Controller Package with E-92 controller.
For all the folks who need to install our TCU on carb cars or are worried that can is not supported then all you need to do is add 3 sensors (MAP, RPM, TPS) power and brake signal. (This even applies to diesels btw)
As far as congifuration/tuning its pretty straight forward.
If you unsure what to do then you can call us once its installed and wired and I will remotely configure your controller and test your gearbox.
This typically takes 15 minutes and you are ready to hit the road and do adaptations.
Feel free to email me with any questions
Sorry I dont have any links to "build threads" but this is setup has been tried and tested over and over with almost 9K Turbolamik controllers on the streets worldwide
