Hey guys just sending an update and have a couple of questions.

Thoughts on the bores they all look like this just took one picture to show you all.

I am confused on this 2005 5.3 L59 I thought these engines had AFM systems on them. When i pulled the lifters out they were not the afm style.

What do you guys think about the bearing? would you still run them or replace them?

The L59 RPO code engines are essentially a LM7 with FlexFuel. It all looks good from the pics. If the cam bearings are tight in their bosses, I would run them as is.

I would run the intake, throttle body and injectors that are on the engine you purchased. The injectors you have there will work with an aftermarket camshaft to supply the needed amount of fuel. I like the DBW setup

Thanks for the info, when pulling the cam out today it was definitely snug passing through the bearings. I've read that the l59 have the larger injectors. Just not to sure on a dbw set up as to what parts are needed. I thought It might be easier to go dbc.

I would replace those cam bearings. It’s already apart and they have quite a bit of visible wear.

Don’t forget about good pushrods too.

these motors really don’t need much, camshaft, pac1218 springs, good fuel supply, injectors and boost. Stock oil pump with a washer added to the bypass spring. Don’t over complicate it.

Hey all its been a while since I posted on here been busy with a new job. Sending some updates on the progress have not had time to really work on this 5.3ls. So far I replaced the the old valve springs and seals went with PAC springs. I decided to pull the cam bearings out good thing I did they were pretty worn and while I was at it I decided to check the main bearings too.

I replaced the cam bearings with Dura bond ch-25 bearings got them installed today, I scuffed the last bearing at the end of the block thought I had enough clearance between the engine stand and the cam circle so I have to get a new bearing for that one. I am hoping to get the last bearing installed and cam and lifters installed next weekend. I'll keep you guys posted.

How are you going to get the TV cable on the 200r4 to work with the electronic throttle body?
