Can you not use headers for a 1970-74 Camaro on yours? I'm assuming yours is a later 2nd gen, but aren't the underpinnings the same other than crossmember changes to accommodate the 1975+ picnic-table cat? If so, couldn't you just convert to the earlier style to accommodate dual exhaust (if you haven't already)?

I have no clue on the Fox body stuff though.

Speed engineering headers do not fit on a foxbody when using holley engine mounts and factory k member. The holley mounts place the engine in the factory passenger offset and the speed engineering headers are designed to need more room on that side.

BUT, the speed engineering camaro headers fit great on my 74 Camaro using holley engine swap mounts. Good deal for $300.

Is the boogieman here on headers not enforcement of emissions laws on cat converter vehicles?

Right. Because catalytic converters came in for the 1975 model year for the most part, and federal law, plus many state laws (not all) dictate that emission devices (like converters) cannot be disabled or tampered with except for EPA/CARB exempted parts. This is what Holley is up against, and with the huge national profile they have, that puts a huge target on their back, litigation-wise.
I don't like it either, but I can see why they discontinued headers for '75-up applications.

Not true, they're discontinuing all headers. I'm in the middle of a lt1 swap in my 70 C10, I went with the Holley swap brackets and pan. At the the time I started they sold lt swap headers, now they're discontinued. This is for a vehicle that ended production in 1972.

i wonder if that decision maker realized that the swap kits were engineered specifically to be a complete kit including headers. does this mean all the rest of the swap parts arent really useful anymore?

This does not seem to be the case at present. I just checked Holley's site for LS swap headers for a 1971 Camaro, there are four different header options currently in stock (3 LTs, 1 mid):

Again, can you not use an LT header designed for a 1970-74 application? I'm assuming you have a later 2nd gen, but I don't see any reason why a 1975-81 Camaro couldn't use the earlier headers (and/or be converted to an earlier cross member if needed).

I just checked the Holley site. Long tubes are available for most pre-75 applications.
The swap kits for post 74 apps specify their cast manifolds as they will usually pass inspection as long as OEM configuration cats are in the system.
Holley doesn't want to get their tit caught in the legal wringer the way it looks

You can always eyeball the closest set and have them modified by a local welder.

I think Holley is able to sell either header drivers or passenger side so maybe mix-matching a set is a possibility?

No Holley made specific version of headers for the later year gen 2. And like I said. I bought an exhaust system that cost over a grand and all the rest of the components. And now it’s pretty useless to me.

Any good muffler shop can make your system work with any manifolds you find. It's just cutting, bending, and welding tubing. Not brain surgery....

I bought the Holley components so I didn’t have to go anywhere. Hell I could have had an exhaust shop do the exhaust cheaper. Just no good shops around me.

I get that. Just saying that in your present situation, all is not lost.
If you find some headers that fit or decent manifolds, they can be hooked up to the system you bought. It shouldn't be complicated at all

I don't understand the issue here. Why would LS swap headers for a 1970-1974 Camaro not be able to work on a 1975-1981 Camaro? Are we talking crossmember interference? If so, a swap to an earlier/aftermarket crossmember will cure this. I understand this is an unwelcome hassle, no argument there, but I just don't understand what would prevent this from being (relatively) easily fixable? Is there some other issue that I'm missing?

I believe it’s a fitment issue with the Holley mounts themselves. If I remember right it was posted why in the thread about the swap components

To show you how in-depth the development process was, we ended up with 1970-74 and 1975-81 specific engine mounts and long-tube headers to account for the subtle differences in the subframe and floor geometries between them and maximize ground clearance in both instances. If you design a header that is tucked up tight to the floor on a 75-81 car and try to install it on a 70-74 car the collectors will bang into the floor...unless you tilt the engine down at a steeper inclination angle, which impacts the U-joint working angles in a negative way. Both configurations provide maximum ground clearance and awesome U-joint working angles without any modifications needed to the floor sheet metal...even on moderately lowered cars.
