Default Throttle body correction? am I nuts?

Am I crazy here?
1) LS3 no boost DBW swapped a Porsche Boxster..dedicated track car

2) made a new engine cover in the front, slight mod to the top cover, I can cut out the back BUT....

3)The easiest way for air filter and top cover fit could be to mount throttle body lower than centerline of intake, and 90 degrees to it, as I plan on making a simple back cover for the existing air intake on the left of the car, for an air box

I see Holley offers a "angle correct" adaptor, to place the throttle body centered?? So this got me thinking if I should do this..I did not and prob won't dyno this car but run the sh#t out of on the track, the engine has a cam swapped, springs, milled heads, Terminator. X . LS3 intake, beside updated oil system, etc

Sooooo..before I fab up a custom , lowered 90 adaptor..am going to loose performance here? I will keep the throttle body as close to the intake as I can get it..AM I NUTS???

Not being familiar with that swap, how about a quick drawing?

by the sounds though, you’re going to be choking it pretty good.

I can do that

I know GM already calculated their throttle body to direct mount to the LS3 intake, I just was not sure by moving the throttle body 90 degrees to the intake, same size pipe as the throttle body, if this will effect this engine. Similar to a carb spacer, buy increasing the distance of the butterfly from the intake, low end performance may suffer although these are port injected and not a carburetor

You will be changing the plenum volume by a fairly small amount, and I doubt that it will make a noticeable difference. Plenum volume is not as critical as runner length, and you are not changing that. I know an NA motor and a blower motor is not a good comparison, but I used to have a side mount whipple blower on my old work truck. The air had to go through the throttle body, through a 2.3L blower, through an A/A intercooler, then through some more piping before getting to the intake manifold. Other than a bit of idle tuning and startup flare, all that extra volume between the throttle body and intake manifold did not cause any issues.

This is a pic of my 67 Nova with a LS swap. The intake tube is horizontal but I can't see any reason if it was rotated down I don't see any issues. Just have clear the water pump pulley with the intake tube. I've had good luck using tubing from a company in WA state called Intakehoses.com.

KISS! we all know the meaning...I copped out! I simply boxed out the top engine cover, and mounted the throttle body boring and direct like all LS engines. Makes it easier then fabricating a down, offset and left curved pipe to fit the throttle body..that is all done now and just have to get some pipes and make an airbox
