Default 1981 camaro with stock hood?

Does anyone know if an LS with aftermarket intake will fit under the stock cowl induction hood of a 1981 Z28? Pic for reference.

Can you post a pic of the underside of your hood? My 80 Camaro RS with a LS3 swap has no clearance problems. Stock LS3 intake.

How much clearance do you have or do you know? My hood is in storage right now as the tub of my car is getting metal work done and getting sealed in Epoxy. After I get the car back I’m gonna start on the mechanical. Here is an underside pic though of the 80-81 Z28 hood.

Which aftermarket intake do you have in mind?
I would advise against any of the Chinesium short passage sheet metal ones as they lose power anywhere below 4-5000 RPM.

On my 72 trans I had plenty of room for the intake and I used a TBSS (new sytle truck intake).
BUT... my alternator would slightly rub the hood with truck accesories.

Was looking at either the Fast LSXR or the Performance Design XS

I went to the PD site, The XS looks like a shorter passage intake, but longer than the Chinesium ones. Not sure it supports strong low end power.
Looks like it would go under your hood, though.

From your pic its a bit hard to tell how far the round ring on the hood extends down towards the intake. Can it be removed?
Don't know if it helps but I placed a piece of bar stock across my 80's fenders about 3" back of the throttle body at the highest point of the LS3 intake cover. Between the cover and the bar stock was about 1.75".

Not sure if the lip can be removed/ground down or not. I would have to look at it closer.

A BTR Trinity intake should fit. It fits no problem under my stock 91 hood
