Default Spohn Mounts and 2nd gen????

I've spent about the last hour trying to search for some info but no luck. Anybody know if the Spohn/TGR mounts for third gen LS1 swaps would work in a 2nd gen? I haven't looked at a thirdgen's K-member but i've heard people say that the crossmember is identical to a thirdgen where the engine mounts. Just trying to figure out if there mounts would work to save me some time, or if i should just copy there design and fab my own.

Just incase i decide to do the later half....can anyone tell me the thickness of the metal used for the mounts? Looks like 1/4" but i would rather be sure. Also, if any of you 2nd gen LS1 swappers are reading this....maybe yall could save me some time from having to swap oil pans back and forth. Can the stock F-body pan be used in a 2nd gen without cutting into the subframe alot? I have a truck pan on the engine now but its going to hang too low. So im trying to dodge having to swap the f-body pan back out and go through the trouble of test fitting the engine just to find out the pan wont work and have to pull it off again.

I used S&P style mounts, I just copied thier design anyway. I also used a stock F body oil pan. No notching required for either the pan or subframe.

Does the bottom of the f-body pan sit above the crossmember like it would if it was mounted high in the engine bay, or does it sit low and even with the bottom of the crossmember? I want to mount the engine as low as possible for handling issues. Reason i ask is i've heard several people on here comment that the S&P mounts mount the engine very high and foward in the engine bay.

The bottom of my oil pan sits pretty much flush with the bottom of the crossmember. I did forget that I moved the motor back about 3/4" - 1" too, and there is still room to move it back farther if you wanted to. But then you might start running into clearance probs with the alternator. I set the motor in there to avaiod any notching of the subframe.

Ive got my LS1 setup with all the corvette accessories and my car is a non a/c car so i can pretty much have all the room i need to move the engine around. Im going to try and get it as far back as possible and as low as possible for weight distribution and handling. Thanks for your reply.

I'm considering doing this with a 5.3 from a 2002 1/2 ton p.u. into my '71 Firebird. Sounds like I'll need to get an F-body pan to replace the truck pan...? How about the truck intake, I hear they are too tall for some cars, how do they fit in the early F-bodies?

Thanks, Roy

Lesrace82, Are you running a/c compressor? Did you have to notch the frame anywhere? What tranny and crossmember are you using? I'm getting ready to set motor in a 71 camaro and any help would be really great. thanks
