the block is totally stock... 1998 LS1.
Nope, no longtubes.. YET... there is a guy who has a header shop working on LT's that should fit both this gen of RX7 and the newer version RX7 too... for under $800 too, how cool, I need a set!
I bought the car in May, let it sit for 2 months un-touched, then bought parts over the summer and bolted everything up mostly on weekends and a few nights every week. the cr was outside in a driveway, no garage space for me, so that made it difficult to work on it unless it was nice outdoors. there were a lot of little things I shouldve done sooner during the project when it would have been easier which led to this taking a long time. I guess a few months... like July to October.

WOW. I bet your fuel mileage is awsome as well. Are u having any problems with the car as faras.....anything??? Man it only took u 7 months to get parts and put that thing together??? That thing is awsome. Its a crazy sleeper. Some boltons and longtubes and that thing HAS to be in the 11's no problem at around 2700lb's.

Now that Ive done this swap,
I wanna help a friend with his if he does decide to do one. I'd like to see how fast we could put one together, I'm thinking 1 full week if we had the parts already, for just 2 guys to build one of these, working 8 hours/day.
It was finding some info online that took most fo my time, or doing something the first try but then needing to do it again differently or needing to remove something to install something behind/under it.
Yep, the specific rear end that I used has been proven to hold up very well on these swaps and the clutch style LSD from the "Series-4 T2" aka the 1987-1988 RX7 Turbo-II is rebuildable. Of course mine looks to be in need of a rebuild because of the one big strip I layed down yesterday. They are said fade out after 40k, who knows what mine had on it since it was used. Guess I need to buy the $300 in mazda parts to rebuild it before spring if I'm really gonna be competetive in autox.
Another LS1FC local, Rx-Ben, is going another route for LSD, he is using a Japan-Only 1999+ RX7 Torsen, it bolts right into the Turbo-2 pumpkin and is supposed to be the strongest of stock Mazda LSD's out there and they aren't too pricey either.

thanks guys.
I've never felt better about a car of my own, ever. not to mention it was not to difficult to build myself and I learned a lot about the different operating systems and their integration. its nice to see you LS1-heads love the project/hybrid, its amazing how much some RX7 purists totally hate the car, like the LS1T56 would ruin the RX7, hahahaaaa, they are pretty blinded by their love of the rotary engine.
thanks to you LS1tech'ers for being so welcoming and educated!
