Default 69 camaro/ls1 swap Questions. Please help

Hi,
I beleive I remember seeing blueprints for the ls1 to 69 cam motor mounts. I desperately need this blueprint if anyone has it Please let me know. Also starting to shop for headers. Anyone know of a good header for a decent price? Thanks in advance for the help. I attached a pic of the project with the gen 1 383/powerglide. Thanks Larry

Larry, S & P makes those adapters. Look on pro-touring.com there are quite a few first gens with ls1's over there. Nineball posts there too.

Default swap

I just finished the swap in my 69. Used the s & p mounts. I have decided to go with a custom subframes so I can make you a deal on the s & P pieces and a custom fabbed up a crossmember as well. . I can also answer any question that you may have concerning the swap. My cell is 704-564-8577 or I will continue to check back here for specific questions.

Only 2 people make headers at this time for the swap...S & P and Stainless Works. The Stainless works headers only work if you use the BRP rack & pinion system and their motor mounts (same as the year one car). The S & P headers are not a long tube header so depending on your mods you may need to have a custom long tube set built.

If you have the engine, and you have the 69 motor mounts, its very easy to make the adapter, you dont need drawings, you need a measuring tape, measure the 4 holes on the engine, and measure it up on a 8mm aluminum or steel plate, and drill them up with a 11mm drillbit, then you place the 69 camaro mount on the plate, one of the holes on the 69 mount goes straight into the block, the bottom one, the two other you just mark up on the sheet using the 69 mount on the steel plate. Then you drill up those to wholes to.

you need to countersink one whole on each mount, the one behind the 69 mount.

I can try to post some pictures of my mounts if thats interesting.

I welded the stock pedestal to the back of the crossmember and used BRP's mounts their. Otherwise, the motor would have been too far forward. S & p's mounts did not work for my application. Moving the motor back requires making a pocket for the A/C though. It's worth it in my eyes to have the located in the correct place.

Any idea of where these will make the motor sit? If you can use the stock accesories and S&P headers?

We do now make an ls1 swap header for use with a factory steering box-depending on what steering box you use, and how exact you are on motor mount position, it may require slight "clearancing" of the tube next to the box. Please call us with any questions-they are 1 3/4" primary tubes, cnc laser cut 3/8" flanges, tig welded, all 304 s/s construction. Retail is 729 or 1049 hand mirror polished.

Thanks

Alnoe what motor mounts do you recomend for your headers when useing stock style steering gearbox? What will clearancing the tubes do to the waranty? Also will they work in my 1969 firebird ls1 ? I believe subframes are the same just want to be sure! thanks
