nothing too it, it took me 2 days to do the swap, with no painless wiring kit, had to do it the hard way, it will fit under the hood ,and you dont need any parts, why buy a fuel rail that the motor doesnt need, the return is for your car not the motor, just plug it. the throttle linkage will work it just needs to be fliped upside down. and on the swap just unhook all hoses and wiring and 6 large bolts on sub frame and start dropping the motor slowly, look for any wires still attached, then slap the entire sub and motor back in. if no painless kit get a detailed wiring diagram,to cross reference computer to the car. the only piece i needed was the key bypass for the anti theft to start the car. it was 170$ for one so, i made one . any ?s let me know, ive been there its not that bad.

you will need the key bypass, the computer will not let the car start unless it see's a signal from a matching key chip,if you cant make one go to your nearby hot rod shop, they should have one. oh yea remember ls1,returnless fuel system ,no return, save your money and cap off the third line!!!!

hey i was wondering if you have any issues with your fuel level on the car or any other issues at all? i know the steering shaft rubs the motor mount a little bit and most of us here grinded the mount just a little bit for clearance. what year was your ls1 out of? was your 96 a 6 or an 8? what about fuel pressure?

the engine was out of a 98 ram air,and if you pay attention to every aspect you can hook up the data port also, that really comes in handy for tuning.it was a 6 cylinder, but as mentioned in a earlier post, try to use the ls1 sub it makes mounting a breeze. as far as fuel pressure goes, i swapped tanks with the ram air so it gives you the right pressure,i also straight wired the pump so it doesnt sense pressure and cut back, giving you a constant flow, and have never had any issues with the car, exept the fuel guage hook up took a little work. but i did get a cluster out of a 97 v8 and it was a simple stick and go deal.but since i got off the subject, fuel pressure runs high because of the straight wired pump, but can you ever get enough fuel? im new to this site,so i need to get you guys a pic of my car i know you will love it,she is a beauty

mine only goes up to middle when full and goes to empty when half full. i always have to gas up after 300 miles to be on the safe side. i think the sender unit on the v6 are different than the ls1.

I did that exact swap.

I swapped everything over. All the wiring from the ls1 car, the ls1 dashboard, ls1 gas tank and fuel lines, ls1 suspension and brake parts. Hood won't close with the ls1 intake btw.

Took me a couple months but I only had a few days a week to work on it.

$150 from GM parts direct.

you mean the k&n lt1 cold air? if so you will need to fab an elbow or use the lt1 elbow, you might also need some silicone couplings and band clamps.

goodluck

Yo need to completely rewire the car too.
An LT1 elbow and a LT1 cold air system like kn/morroso will fit tight.

I just turned a 94 V6 Camaro into a road race/auto-x car with the LS1/T56 from my old 1999 SS.

Pictures:
http://bervickbradstreetracing.com/cricket94/gallery/

The intake I fabbed up cost around $35. Sewer coupling and vent pipe from Home Depot!

If you are sticking with the manual transmission, you need an LT1 T56 crossmember, the LS1 style crossmember WILL NOT work.

That an there are about a hundred other odd things that didn't end up right, including the clutch pedal.

Long story short, if you don't have a donor car sitting next to it, you will need to buy a lot of random parts.

Post up any questions you might have.

Does anyone have a complete list (or a link to a list) of what has to be changed to do this swap? I tried doing a search, but couldnt really find anything complete.
