Default Flange Bolts

What source do you guys use for finding metric flange bolts (like the OEM stuff). Even if I wanted to pay the dealer's outlandish price (e.g. the coil pack bracket bolts are $6.45/each and 10 are required) the other problem is trying to find a p/n to use someone like GMPartsDirect and get a little break. Smaller stuff like these aren't too difficult to find at hardware stores.

Right now I'm trying to find the fbody alt bracket bolts. They are an M10x1.5 but I'm not sure on length, at least a 120-130 mm. I've found some M10x1.5x110 at Ace (the longest they can get) but its not long enough and Fastenal doesn't list anything greater than 45 mm. Anyone else having this problem? -Bob

you could always try a salvage yard that lets you pull your own parts.

Yeah, I should have mentioned that was my first thought as well - the only place close around here either didn't have what I needed and/or indicated he didn't want to separate the bolts from the brackets - which kinda makes sense.

I managed to find all of the misc bolts that I needed at either Ace hardware or a real "bolt & fastener" store.

I have a giant pdf file that contains all F-body parts including bolt sizes for all 4th gen cars. I don't remember where I downloaded it, but it's over 100MB. If you have a specific bolt size or part # that you're looking for, I can see if I can find it in there.

Well, that's part of the problem, I don't know the p/n and I don't know the exact length of the alt bolts.

Any chance you might be able to find the source to the fbody file you referred to? -Bob

I've looked around for the link in the past with no luck, but I will look around again.

The two bolts that mount the alt to the bracket are M10x1.25x125 (11516513).

Thanks for the length info and p/n - are you sure on the thread profile - I thought they were 1.5. -Bob

Interesting, those bolts are only about $1.50 apiece - they are much larger than the coil pack bracket bolts I priced - and at a 1/3 of the price. Anyway I appreciate the help. -Bob

Bob, you're right, It is 1.5. For the coil brackets, I bought those at Ace hardware. They were probably 30cents each. I see no need to get them from the dealer.

BTW, that $6.45 price you got is probably for a pack of 10. That's the way the flywheel bolts came when I bought them.

I guess I am a little spoiled. There is a place around here called Tacoma Screw and they have everything. Look in your local phone book, you might be surprised what is around.

That's probably right - but when I questioned him he said each - would make more sense to be a pack of 10 though. I did buy them from a hardware store as well.

70 LS1 - there is a specialty place here called Fastenal - they are closed on the weekends so I searched their online db and they didn't indicate anything longer than 45 mm in a M10 flange - but I'll call and see what they have.

Thanks for the help guys - Bob

For anyone else looking... One of the truck moderators has the F-body parts manual hosted on his site. http://hauln.net/partscd/manual.pdf . Please download it for your own use, but he asks that you don't distribute the link to any other sites. It's about 130MB, so all of the downloading is going to use up his bandwidth if a ton of people download it.
