Default computer harness conversion

I am putting a 5.3 from an 01 suburban into my 75 blazer. I have the computer and engine, tranny harness. Is there any info available on what has to be done to hook up the harness to make it work? I understand the anti-theft has to be disabled in the computer. Are there modifications required to the harness as well?

If you plan on using the later transmission , you'll need to convert the VSS signal to a cable driven signal for your speedometer. Abbott Electronics makes just such a module.

Buying one from speartech is the least work.
You could get factory helms manuals and the 01 suburban underhood and powertrain harness and make them work easy.
mitchell on demand has good pcm pinouts but thats about it.
pcm pinouts help you trace all the stuff you want to dump....egr/air/fuel tank pressure/evap.

You can fool the vats(anti theft) out with a module, or program out with a tuner(edit,hp,flashscan).
I have an extra module it you want it, it came with the engine/trans I bought.
Here is my underhood harness

What happens if you don't eliminate the stuff from the harness you don't need? If it isn't used anyway what will happen? When you "eliminate", don't you have to do something with the wire to fool the PCM? I was also told you have to relocate certain wires in the connector to make it work. As to the vats, I will probably have that programmed out of PCM. Thanks

Nothing happens if you dont remove the wiring.
It just looks better.
You dont have to fool the pcm if you delete emissions crap, it will just turn on the engine light.
It will not affect the operation of the engine/trans.
You can edit the certain emission codes so they dont turn on the light.

Relocate wires in which connector?

Post a pic when you get it going. I thought about putting a 6.0 in my '74, but the body is not very good. Are you running manifolds or headers?

At the PCM, not sure which wires or function.

Fortunately this has been a So. California vehicle, almost no rust. Although there is enough room to sleep under the hood of this thing, the motor wound up real tight between frame. I used camaro manifolds instead of headers. The manifolds fit better and produce less heat under hood. The EGR port was easy to hook up also. Although at this point I am uncertain whether or not to use it.
