Anyone been able to use the Electronic T.B.? I am trying to help a friend of mine who is wanting to do a 5.3 swap in to his El Camino. He was asking about the electronic throttle body setup and whether he could do it with the pedal assembly and TAC box, but I have heard that it is not possible wthout a bunch of other electronics involved. Anyone been able to do this successfully? Is there some trick to it? It seemed pretty straight forward at first.

Its simple. Much easier then converting to cable.
The pedal set-up in the duramax has the electronic gas pedal but the TAC setup is built in to it. This makes for a compact set-up. All you need is to plug it into the harness, get the computer tuned and your ready to go.

Anyone have a running example? Someone I spoke with in California is telling me that there are some drivebility issues. But I am wondering if it isn't the emissions that are causing some issues.
I went the other way-got rid of the electronic for a cable. All there is to it is the pedal assy, the TB, the TAC box, the wiring, and the program in the PCM. I wouldn't say it is easier than a cable, but I guess the "cool factor" would be worth something in an older vehicle.

We're doing 40-50% of our harnesses for ETC applications these days. LOTS of running examples out there.
