Need Opinion LS1 BMW 5/7 series
I have done some research and have discovered a couple of guys who have installed a LS1 into a 3 series BMW. Does anybody have any insight into doing the same thing to a BMW 5 or 7 series car?
I really like the idea of this swap but need a bigger car.
My goal is to have a luxary GT with a LS1 T56 set up!!!!!
Thanks in advance Wayne

I would say to check out the infiniti g35 sedan instead of the 5 or 7 series. You can find lightly kit g35 sedans all day for around 10-12,000 or you can buy a excellent condition 2003 with decent miles for 20-22,000. They are very good drivers car and IMO look better than both the 5 and 7 series. Or even look for a V6 Cadillac CTS and swap the ls1 into that.
g35driver.com had some good info on the g35

I'd also love a 5 series LS1, as I need a decent sized 4 door sedan for my work as a real estate agent. Otherwise, I'd think of the 3 series or another LS1 Porsche 944 as my street car.
You can talk to some of the people doing the conversions for the 3 series and see if they would be willing to go into the 5 series.
If you find some interest to do it, please let me know.

its definitey possible.
I'd thought of it as well, I even priced out some older 5series sedans to do the swap with.
there is a european dude with an LS1 in his 5 series already, its got a blower IIRC.

Thanks for all your input. I am giving serious considerition to install a LS1 into a Jaguar XJ6. There are a couple of people who offer kit and much needed information on the Jag V8 swap. JaguarSpecialties is currently installing a LT1/T56 combo into a XJSC. So I now have information on what is involved in converting the Jag to a manual. Jaguar has produced severel XJ6's with manual trans. The problem is they didn't inport any into the US.
I guess if this was easy than everybody would be doing it.

Bill Hagan in AZ built a TT LS1 5 series BMW. Haven't heard much of its potential but I'm sure it rips. He has around $10K in it doing all the work himself.
Jagsthatrun.com (JTR) has been around for 20+ years doing 240Z, Jag, Volvo, S-10, and other v6/v8 engine conversions.... I'd check them out for a kit also.
