Default Got one!

I am officially an LS1 owner. I picked up a motor from a 2000 Firebird today. I got it from a contact here on LS1Tech, so this site is already playing a major role in my engine swap. I got the motor plus a bunch of stuff from the donor car, probably a lot that I won't be using so they will end up in the classifieds. I won't be starting the swap till this fall, don't want to miss all the summer cruising. Hope I can wait that long, but it will give me time to do more research and gather parts. I have already got an LS6 intake for it. Anyway I am really stoked so I wanted to share my excitement. Here are pics of the motor and the car it will be going into.

Pat

P.S. the guy I bought it from had to cancel his project so he has a '67 Camaro RS he is selling. Good body, has some new sheet metal. It is apart but all there. He is asking $3500 and he is near Sacramento, CA. PM me if you are interested.

AWSOME!! That little Stude is going to fly! Seems to me that it's a great match. Your LS1 is about the same combo I used.......a super cruiser!

That is going to be an awesome ride! Buddy of mine in high school, his whole family restored stude's, all four brothers. One of them did a nice 350 SBC, man was it fast!

Judging from the length of the nose on the Stude , you should have plenty of room for the LS1 and tranny. Interesting ride!

Thanks for the comments and encouragement guys. It should scoot pretty good, I will be dropping some 3.80 gears in when I do the swap and finished weight will be about 3100 pounds. You are right about the motor, it only has 9000 miles on it. I could tell it had not just been cleaned up as if you look close you can find a couple areas that were just starting to show a little dirt. I paid a little more for it because of the low mileage, but hopefully it will be worth it. The motor should fit just fine, biggest challenge will be fitting the exahaust into my narrowed subframe. But if the 350 fits, the LS1 should too. Here's a picture of the 350 in there now.

You might want to consider the LS-2 water pump, I originally set mine up with the LS-1 pump and ended up with no room for my cooling fan. With the LS-2 pump I was able to run the electric fan I wanted. I had to use a puller to move the LS-2 pulley forward 3/8" so the belt would line up but that was no big deal.
