87 regal grand national clone ls1 swap
hey whats up guys!!
I live in a cold frozen area with 3-4 months of semi warm days which it usually rains,it's called minnesota!!! any ways because of this are season for any street rod or race whatever is short. so here's my problem I want to completly swap out a stock 87 regal and clone it (hood,spoiler,trim, paint,etc)
to look like a g/n! well body parts are easy. I came across a 2001 camaro ls1
warrenty pull out long block roughly 20k and it ran it just had bad scoring in #7 caused tick when accelerating, I've had it rebuilt to stock .10 over with gm pistons etc and used existing heads. slowly over the past year i've pieced the stk coils fuel rail and 28lb injectors also have th350 trans with adaptor plate and 98 computor. I installed truck oil pan and stk t-body.
Here's my question what do i have to do for a vss on trans?also will my stock crossmember work in factory bolt pattern does it need diff c/m or ?
and will a a/c delco grand national fuel pump (which fits in my tank)
push enough fuel pressure???
one last question has anyone ever had ls1 performance make a custom
conversion wiring harness for them the guy there says it can be done??
all and all this is a long term hobby for me where i learn as i go, i'm not looking for serious h/p at this time i just want correct fit and reliablity,than
the goodies can be bolted on.
any info is good info

nice swap!
you dont need a vss signal for that trans, only the 4l60e and 80e
kickdown and vacuum for 350's
you can modify the stock underhood harness the power the stock engine harness
with just 3 factory connectors(you could make it 1 big).
you just remove the junk you dont need(non engine/emissions)

i installed a 6.0 im my 86 cutlass using a th-350 and adapter plate as well. the truck oil pan won't work, it hangs down about 3 inches below the crossmember. you'll need an f-body oil pan. if you have any questions pm me. thanks.

SIGNAL FROM TRANS WHAT TO DO IN DETAIL????
DID YOU USE STK CROSSMEMBER???
WHAT FUEL SET UP WORKS BEST???

My brother in law parted out a 87 Grand national. Has alot of the parts in the garage still, could prolly email him and see what he has left.
