93 silverado engine swap?

My friend has a 93 silverado cheyenne with a six cylinder. We want to know which engine would be better to swap in, a 5.3l or an ls1? We do plan on modding the engine when we have it. But which one would be easier to swap for.

What is the best way to go about finding an engine. Should we just bounce around to some junkyards and see what newer engines we can find? Definitely on a low budget for this.

www.car-part.com is a good place to look for engines. Budget at least $5000 for the swap.

thanks for the info. I've read some other posts regarding the difficulty in making the gauges work with a swapped engine, what is the easiest way to go about wiring a different engine in to work?

Easiest way is to get a conversion harness from Speartech or painless. This will give you the least trouble. It is not a plug and play job, that's for sure.
