Default Dimensional differences between LSx oil pans?

Does anyone have pictures and/or dimensions of the various LSx oil pans? I'd like to put together a comparison of the F-body, Corvette, truck, GTO, and Holden oil pans that might help future swappers to determine which pan would be the best fit. If you have any info, post it up and we'll see what we can put together.

Great post idea. I think we should get this figured out, repost (as needed) and sticky (when we're done).

The GM LS1 crate installation guide has some line drawings with dimensions of the C5, f-body, and truck pans. I've got a copy at the house. Have to figure out what it has that is useful, verify it is accurate (you'd think it is since its from GM), and how to post it up.

But it doesn't have info on the GTO pan, the new LS2 C6 pan, the CTS-V pan, or the small truck (trailblazer & ssr) pans. Also, any new LS2 designs (GTO / SSR) would be good to document.

We should also document the GM part numbers for these pans (and the GM part # for the matching windage tray and pickups for each).

Dreamin,
That's the plan. I'd like to see that drawing you're talking about. If you think it's useful, PM me and we'll find a way to post it.

I thought that I had read that the Trailblazer has the steering rack going through the middle of the oil pan. (Although maybe that's just the I5.) If that's the case, it's probably not very useful for conversions.

John,
I'll see what I can find.

I think the trailblazer pan has a hole in it for the front axle to pass through (at least in 4wd applications). I don't know about steering linkage. Would be good to find out, wouldn't it?

Hey Guys...

I'm going to have to figure out how to get the paper copy into an electronic format so that the pretty pictures can be posted. I think I can do it easy, but you never quite know.

Oil system GM Part numbers (from GM LS1 installation guide, PN 88959384, page 9)

Corvette (C5) Oil Pan: 12561828
Corvette (C5) Oil Pupm Pickup: 12558750
Corvette (C5) Windage Tray: 12558189
Corvette (C5) Dipstick: 12562468
Corvette (C5) Dipstick Tube: 12556405

F-body Oil Pan: 12558762
F-body Oil Pump Pickup: 12558251
F-body Windage Tray: 12558253
F-body Dipstick: 12551581
F-body Dipstick Tube: 12551577

C/K Truck Oil Pan: 12560393
C/K Truck Oil Pump Pickup: 12563961
C/K Truck Windage Tray: 12558268
C/K Truck Dipstick: 12558684
C/K Truck Dipstick Tube: 12563918

GTO (Holden) Oil Pan: 12561541
GTO (Holden) Oil Pump Pickup: 12572654
GTO (Holden) Windage Tray: 12558189 (shared with C5)
GTO (Holden) Dipstick: 12562468 (shared with C5)
GTO (Holden) Dipstick Tube: 12561544

I don't have any info on the other vehicles that have received LSx series motors (ie. CTS-V, Trailblazer, SSR, LS2 stuff). If anybody has info about any of those, please post it up.

The Vette pan has to be one of the ugliest oil pans I have seen. Whats with the flapper wings? Oil cooling or something?

oil control. helps keep the oil from climbing the pan rails during hard cornering.

Glad to see TJ & Scooter70 came up with a good way to post up that page from the LS1 installation guide....I kept trying to figure out my companies copier/fax/network scanner, and finally said "skip it, somebody else has got to have this".

Lostpatrolman, that pan looks pretty interesting. Probably not very useful (for most swaps) but interesting. I think the 4wd Trailblazer is a different pan still. Anybody seen any part numbers?

How about the LS2 pans? The C6 pan looks "normal" compared to the C5 pan. Would be interested to see how it compares, and what the part numbers are (pan / pickup / windage tray / dipstick / tube).

Hey Guys...

Did some searching around on this site for any additional oilpan info (so that hopefully we can put it all in the same spot).

Here's what I found:

C6 LS2 Oilpan. Part # 12581810.
See pics here: Link, see post #23, Posted by KJ @ SDPC

Trailblazer 4WD Oil Pan. Part # 12579723. Should be front sump, with a hole for the axle shaft to pass through the pan. Haven't found any pics yet.

CTS-V LS6 Oilpan. Part # 12577901. Should have a rear deep sump (compared to the vette pans at least). Haven't found pics of it yet.

I also don't have info on the corresponding oil pickups, dipsticks, etc.

If you've got any of that, please post it up.

I'm looking at LS2 C6 pan and parts for my engine build because of the better oil control baffles and they are similar to F-body LS1 pans externally.
The PN's I have found;
LS2 C6 oil pan 12581810 complete kit with bolts, gasket, side cover
LS2 C6 oil pick-up screen 12558750 same used on LS6
LS2 C6 oil deflector 12558189 same as used on LS6/LS1
LS2 C6 Dipstick tube assy. 12570787
LS2 C6 Dipstick 12570788

Default GTO pan

Here's a picture of the GTO pan but I don't have the measurements. It is also a "front sump" pan.
