Depends on how mechanically inclined you are.

Unfortunately, the search tool needs three characters to work, so you can't just search for "C4". This thread has some good C4 specific info. If you serach for "vette" in the topic titles, it will get you some decent threads although there really isn't a whole lot that's C4 specific. For the most part, almost all swaps involving removing a smallblock and putting in an LS1 are very similar. Motor mount adapter plates (from S&P or anywhere else) will get the motor mounted. Then you need to make the tranny mount work based on where it ends up when the motor is bolted in. Wiring, fuel, cooling, and exhaust are all that's left.

Unfortunately, C4VetteLS1 got himself sent to Banned camp for some reason, so he's not here to help you C4 guys out. I believe that you could still e-mail him at ls1tuner(at)hotmail.com (that's the e-mail addy listed in his profile).

Thanks for the link scooter. I tried to email c4vettels1 a long time ago... the email was returned by hotmail, invalid account.

I am working on a 86c4 lq9 swap. The big issues mainly come down to which non-automatic tranny I can run. I wanted to run a tko600, heard it wasnt too hard to adapt them to work with an ls1. Then I hear contrary info from s&p saying I need a special (expensive) conversion flywheel etc. Mcleod doesnt return my emails, Lakewood never answers the phone, Keisler (ive asked thrice now) doesnt seem to want my money... wont give me a quote. Im lost. To this day I have not found a single picture of an ls1 in a c4.

If anyone has any pictures of the engine bay, please post them.

Thanks,

Chris

why not just run a T56 from a Camaro and have a custom driveshaft made?

Could you send me the details as well? I'm seriously putting an LS1\t56 into the 63 mostly just worried about how much fab work needs to be done and that the tranny fits without cutting etc. Its a low mile #'s match car I really don't want to hack it up too bad.. although its never going to get sold unless something major happened...

Thanks!

No my father has a 63 vette but he offered to pay me to put the LS6 setup in while he was waiting for his 07 Z06, unless people start dropping off the waiting list for the 06.

I let him drive mine and it got him thinking So there is a 63 in the family, not too mention alot of other bad *** cars... I do have a 73 SD Formie 4spd pretty rare I think only about a 1000 were made.
