is it possible to come by? wether it be a truck motor or true ls1. i know it would be high mileage but thats not an issue to me, as long as its got the ecu and harness, its cake.

There are a couple places around me here in Florida that have 4.8 and 5.3 engines for $800 and under.

I picked up a '98 LS1/4L60e combo with harness/accessories for 1000 dollars.

Had a bolt cracked off the block (alternator mount, on the "wing" at the front of the block) and a cracked intake. The alternator will still mount up fine, and a new intake cost me a raging 30 bucks.

If you want a good price, buy a totalled car and part it out. You can make money on your LS1 if you have a keen eye and patience.

actually be careful doing this. i part cars on ebay all the time and went this route. I paid $4500 for a 99 z28/t56. i kept the engine, tranny, harness, ecm, radiator, fans, fog lights, leather seats, and AC stuff. the otehr parts sold for about $2000.

i can part a 88-93 stang out and DOUBLE that

if you know someone at a chevy dealership that could help too.

i bought a 2001 vortec 8100 for $250, said to have oil consumption.
from the same dealership i bought a 6.0l and a 5.3l together for $150.
5.3 was blown, holes in block, 6.0L was oil consumption, taken apart.

uh huh, and your T56 would have cost you $1200-1500, teh leather seat $700, rad/fans $200, AC stuff $200, and you got a free LS1/computer/harness
Not sure what your point was?
known LS1/comp/harness/4l60s go for $3000-3500, and look what you got!
