TKO600 bell housing and clutch
I have been researching this forum and others for a few days to find the final word, will the SBC aluminum bell housing work with a TKO-600 behind a LS1. If not, is Mcleod the only choice?
I want to use a push style slave cylinder.

Launching!
Also, Lakewood
An SBC aluminum bellhousing should work, although it will be missing one bolt hole. Lakewood also makes an LS1 bellhousing with a Muncie/Saginaw trans bolt pattern - I'm using one to adapt my D&D t-56 to an LS1. The D&D t-56 uses the Muncie-style mounting pattern, as do the TKO trannies which are designed as early model GM retrofits.
The Lakewood part # is: 15005. $309.95 at Summit - much cheaper than McLeod.

I am in the middle of putting together all the components to put a GM TKO600RR (TCET 4618) behind a LS1 / ZO6. I have been dealing with Don at D & D Performance. In the past D & D has mostly been Ford applications, but Don is doing more and more GM stuff. Don has ordered in a Fidanza LS1 flywheel and a SBC 11 clutch and pressure plate. I have a 1969 Camero aluminum BB bell housing (cast# 621). I think the pilot bearing/bushing concern could be solved best by replacing the GM TKO600 input shaft with the Ford 1 1/8” X 26T input. It is .500 longer at the pilot journal but the spline length and location is about the same. The pilot journal diameter is 17mm on the Ford and GM is 15mm. A long shot on the bearing being found but a bushing would be easy, and not protruding out of the back of the crank like the other option, could possibly interfere and contact the clutch hub. Plus the bushing hanging out of the back of the crank seems weak and hokey. Don has been very helpful and returns all my calls.

Here is a few pics of the mockup. Just as I thought the input only dogs into the pilot about 1/4". I believe the Ford input shaft is the way to go at this point. It is about 1/2" longer than this GM input.

I would not mess with getting a longer input shaft. All you have to do is get a bronze bushing mashined that is about 1/4 inch longer than a stock bearing. Amny circle track guys do the same thing on regular small blocks when they sandwish a mid-plate between the bellhousing and block.
Quarter Master makes longer bushings for both SBC and SBF cranks. I don't know exactly how the O.D.s compare to the LS1 cranks.
