88959384 LS1 installation guide, have a question about this book
Ive read some posts about this guide and Im wondering, does it have a layout of the front of the engine and where all the available tapped holes are for things such as the water pump, and accessories? I know that there are not very many holes but Im trying to create an ACCURATE CAD profile of an LS1 front so I can do a motor plate. I have a limited supply of aluminum and its expensive so I want to do this right.

I was talking to my cage builder today. I work with him. He said that he has seen some GM Performance Parts catalogs in the past that had Gen I SBC dimensions like that in some book. I got poking around and found this one and thought it might have an equivalent.
Appears as though Im going to have to do this the hard way.

The LS1 installation guide doesn't have those illustrations or dimensions like the GM Performance "white book" did for the old small block, I think it should but I guess they figured it wasn't needed. That was the neat part of those old books, you could really build from their engineering drawings.

I talked to a local dealer who is good at finding obscure parts for people.
He tried contacting some GM engineers and they didnt have access to the drawings for this sort of thing.
I tell you what Im going to do is trace this thing. Take the time and do it right no matter how long it takes me.
Then Im sending the god damn file out to everyone I know. Even mustang people so the INFORMATION IS READILY AVAILABLE FOR THE HANDS OF FELLOW HOT RODDERS OUT THERE THAT NEED IT.
Im more than happy to help some fellow hot rodders in need of information

Or maybe Wheel2Wheel? Wouldn't hurt to contact them. I'd bet they've done something with a front plate and have a layout.
Please Please Please post that kind of information up! That is EXACTLY the kind of info the Conversions & Hybrids FAQ section should have.

Ive talked to three shops and so far, no cad files. Two people had it but wouldnt give it up and the third says his machine shop guy MIGHT have it but I havent heard anything.
Im thru dealing with shops. They all dont have a problem making a plate for me but a lot of good that does me when they dont have my car and its the same amount of work for me to measure it for them and send them the file when I have a CAD, have the aluminum, have an NC program and have a laser to cut it.
*shrug*

If it says LS1 it might as well have a $$$ after it.
Because no one wants to let information goes, thats for sure. Not like the crowd Ive spent the last 5+ years dealing with. People that are happy to let information go

I think you need to try Art Morrison Ent., they have alot of things like motor plates and related chassis pieces . They also have headers. Of all these aftermarket chassis people they seem to have the best LS1 info because they have built some LS1 cars
