If any one knows what im talking about , please let me know, need to put these fans in quick my current e fan is going out, any help would be apreciated. Just curious to find out where i can get those connectors.

Here's four suggestions-

A GM dealer will sometimes have 'service' parts for the harness. I've bought other connectors for GM harnesses this way. The connector comes in a bag with pigtails to wire into the harness.

One of the board's sponsors, Nelson Performance, makes a harness for the LS1 fan. Perhaps he'd sell you the connectors your looking for or tell you the part number.

If you have any junkyards nearby, find a V6 or V8 camaro '98 up and they should be willing to clip those connectors out of the harness.

Waytek Wiring sells the Packard-type connectors, shells and pins. They have a .pdf catalog on the web at http://waytekwire.com/. They have a minumun order, but lots of interesting stuff.

Good luck........

I used a SPAL fan in my conversion, which came with all the harness, sender and wiring needed to drop it in. This might be easier than trying to adapt the trans am fan, and I believe the SPAL fan (16,000 cfm?) moved a lot more air than an OEM application.

I have the SPAL fans on one of my cars and they work well, but building a shroud for them was a PITA. They only run at one speed - high,

The LS1 fans obviously cooled an LS1 in the donor car, so if the radiator is big enough it should work in the S10.

CFM for the LS1 fans probably isn't an issue because they run at half power (fan motors wired in series) unless the airconditioner is on, then they switch to high (fan motors in parallel) so the condenser will cool.

Once you get the connectors for the fan, are you going to have the computer swiitch it on and off using the multi-speed relays from the LS1 donor car?

Well I currenlty have a Flex-a-flight on my truck right now. It is controlled by a temp switch box, and by an a/c switch, i can adjust the temp box, so in other words, to when ever i want, just a matter of turning a ***. The fan will stay on even if the truck is off, and cool to the set temp. The ls1 fans will cool the truck great, plenty of s10 guys use them on the v6's. But now i have a quick question about the fans, do they have more than one speed? My plan was just use my existing setup right now, just basically replacing fans if u know what i mean, making the ls1 fans run at the same time, like one. If some one would please let me know if this will work, cuz if not then I would need to get the whole relay setup.

Agreed- unless I'm "gettin on it", most people hear my fan first if I'm driving toward them, not my exhaust.

However, for my application, I needed to be moving the max amount of air due to mostly slow speeds that I am driving (rockcrawling at walking speed). I also wanted the SPAL fan because of the curved blades that would take it easier on my radiator upon impact when I flop the thing on its side, or worse.... so a low noise fan was not at the top of my priorities.

The LS1 fans have a low and high speed. The factory relays switch from series (6V across each motor) and parallel (12V across the motor).

I believe the fans draw about 15-20 amps each at 12V, so both running on high speed are noisy and suck up a fair amount of your alternator's capacity (105 amp, I presume)

(If somebody knows better, please correct me)

Only the low speed is required to cool the engine, but to cool the motor and the condenser, the fans run on high.

If you run the fans on high all the time you defeat some of their HP benefit and can load up your alternator.

If you run the fans on low with the AC on you can build pressure in the AC that isn't good.

To use the factory fans you should either use the factory relay pack and PCM (which turns the fans on at 205F by the way) or have your PCM reprogrammed and use a Nelson harness/relay to run the fans at low/high speed.

Hope this helps you out some.

If you go down a little further to the truck forum, there is a lot of information on the LS1 fan install. It is a popular modification they say is worth about 10-15HP for the 4.8 to 6.0L trucks

I'm getting ready to do my truck and am curious to see how it works out. I'm in Phoenix and it is really hot, but the guy in Texas who sold me the harness said he's got lots of customers in Texas and it works well.

Let us know how it works out..

Phil

I have dual aftermarket fans (Zirgo). Can I simply wire them so that the the factory controls will power them the same way as the LS1? i.e. series then parallel.

Thanks,
