Which LS1 motor to look for?
Corvette = Electronic throttle
At this point, low miles and cleanliness are more important than the year of the motor. It will make things easier for you to stay away from 1997-98 as they are a little different than the later motors. If I were going to do it again, I'd probably see if I could get one of the LS2s from the GTOs that were in the train wreck.
What are you going to put it in?
I'm using a 2000 LS1 T-56 combo for my current project. I bought it complete with new wiring harness & PCM and SLP MAF from my son-in-law in Gilbert, Arizona. There's probably no more difficult conversion than my Miata project and Jeff solved all my engine systems issues.
He's (Howard Performance) sold probably close to 25-28 used LS1 engine packages with new stand alone, wiring harnesses and PCMs for Streetrods, Sandrails, etc. recently and they've all been great, low mileage
motors guys are pretty much using in everything.
F Body LS1 most likely will be the least hastle for you.
