Default Weighed my car today...

I took the car to get weighed today and I was pretty pleased with it, pretty much what I expected. It was 3420 with me in it and 3300 without me. Now mind you this is a full weight no weight reduction car (except tubular suspension stuff) I have about ~50-60 lb 12" subs and box and amp that I can take out, spare tire and jack, and AC compressor that is sitting there doing nothing. I think i can get to 3200 without me fairly easily. What do you guys think?

i think if you wanted to make it a drag car, 2900 isnt out of the question.

mines 3280 with everything it normally has and little over 1/2 tank of gas (actual, not gauge level)

if i start doing the "track prep" it drops below 3100.

track prep:
remove passenger seat
drop front swaybar
swap fullsize battery for lightweight battery
swap HEAVY front wheels for skinnys
swap rears to slicks
unbolt muffler (its on a flange just for that)
less gas in tank.
subwoofer/amps/tools out of trunk

all in all, it takes me about a hour to get it ready... but it makes a diff...

I thought the 3rd Gen's would be a lot lighter than the 2nd Gen( esp. the porky 3830 lbs '74 Camaro). I thought the 3rd Gen's weighed around 3500 lbs. Maybe I should check my sources again , I still can't believe I shed over 500 lbs with my conversion. Those manuf. curb weights are probably innaccurate. Although most mag. have the ZO6 curb wight at 3100. My friend weighed his '03 Z06 and it came in at 3080 ( 1/4 tank gas). Still with your mods that thing 's gunna be an animal! Enjoy!!

Lol 2900 Lbs...I dunno if Im going to go that extreme. I do have to mention that I have no front sway bar, plus I still need to put on my subframes. Id like to get a set of slicks and skinnies (bye bye drivetrain) and I think im goin to convert to coil overs which will save a few lbs. But Id like 3300 with me in it for goin to the track.

**So given the weight numbers and the mods, what kind of times are you guys thinkin for my car? I dont want to guess myself in fear of overestimation. I will hopefully get the car to the track before I go back to school.

Lol...its not a fear of breaking anything (yet) its just I need to get an alignment and fix a few leaks and some tuning, before I could even get the car down the track. If youd like to come up north to help me fix a few problems (free of charge of course) Id be more than happy lol.

Some things on the rack&pinion are loose that shouldnt be loose. Couple leaks to take care of. Need an alignment after I figure out whats up with the rack. Possibly need to repack my wheel bearings again (I might just take it to a shop because I did it by the book and I might have not done it well enough). I also noticed that my tires are rubbing in the front when I take a hard left turn. They rub on inner fender on the passenger side (which I can take care of pretty easily because its metal) and they are also rubbing on the driver side gfx (which is plastic so i dont know what to do with that).

Well I took out the subs and amp, and spare tire and jack. I was going to take out the AC compressor, when when I un plugged the connection on the AC, the car would die out and the guages were goin goofy, but only when the lights were on. If you can explain that to me, lll give you a cookie. But anyway I took that stuff out and reweighed and it was at 3360 and 3250 without me.

Yea I figured that its a pretty good weight. But about the grounds, honestly I dont know what more there is to check. I have all the grounds from the harness grounded either to the back of the head, or to the chassis and they are all solidly grounded. Maybe I can bring it somwhere to have them go through the electrical system or something.
