I shortened my C5 driveshaft and torque tube. I used 4043 rod for the torque tube. I do not know what rod to use for the driveshaft.
I think the driveshaft is some kind of aluminum matrix material.

Good question. All I've ever built were steel d/s. If you saved the piece you cut out, at least you got some practice material.

First, what are you building? Second, if you shortened it I would have thought you would cut from one end and have it re-machined, but I only looked into lengthening mine. The guys at Leno's Big Dog Garage would know. They extented one for his Toronado. You might try the Corvette guys on this forum too. Good luck.

LG also makes driveshafts in CF for the C5. They could probably make you a custom one in the right length. The driveshaft to me look like regular Al, but I don't know what alloy.
