The rack and pinions are the same... why would you have to change them?

You will also have to change the tank, pump, dash, gauges, A/C system, steering column shaft between rack & pinion and steering column.

OK, I've switched the 98+ racks into older cars but never the other way around. I wasnt aware of the size difference.

The A/C system does not have to change. The cluster depends on what year the electrics for the LS1 will be. If 99 on up are used you will not need to change the cluster. The fuel pump will have to be changed. But the pump is the only thing you should change. A swap the sending units leads to more problems. I do not remeber having to change the steering column system at all. But the tach will not work corrcetly. With out device to correct the signal. Dakota Digital has one.

I would say if 99 up then it would need to be changed. 98 gauges still use analog signals from the sensors. 99 is when it all went digital from the PCM, isn't it?

Maybe its just me having to swap the AC because I'm a V6, but I'm not sure if the LT1 pulley spacing and diameters are the same as the LS1.

As for the tank, once again, if its a 99+ LS1, then the pump is different in the way that it mounts to the plastic tank. 98's have a metal tank.

I just put the 3.4 a/c lines on my Ls1 compressor .

As far as the guages go . get a v8 guages from a 94 to 96 camaro ,get 98 coolant and oil sensor and and run it to the plug under the kick panal . No need to change dash

The tank will not need to be changed . get and aftermarket pump (walbro 255 ) plump the the return line into a corvette filter .

I used the the column from the 98 car so I dont know if that will need to be changed or not . Althou they look the same .

Man this is a lot of help. He has the tank from the wrecked Z (donor car ) so that shouldn't be a problem. The engine still has the AC and such on it, will it not plumb into the LT1 system? The mechanical part I'm not to worried about, it's the wiring part that really worries me. As long as I list all the stuff yall have sujested and make sure I have those parts I should be good with the mech. part.

Thanks for all the help guys.

I just used the A/c lines off my 94 v6 camaro . 98s and up have an exp. valve and 97 and lower have an orfice tube , The lines are diff. If the one from the Lt1 wont work You can have some made up from a hose shop.
