Guys,
I am working on the wiring harness for my LS1 motor now and I need help identifying these electronic parts and their functionalities.

2. This black box is next to the PCM: http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...2079260_61.jpg

#2 looks like a Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) for an Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) also called a drive by wire throttle. It should have one set of wires going to the gas pedal and the other goes to the ECU.
Just by their location, #3 may, and I emphasize "May" be inertia sensors to control your seat belts. Is this motor our of a truck with seatbelts built into the seat backs?
Hope that helps
Pat

i cant really see that black box very well..dont know what it is or what the one by the steering column is..im pretty sure the two by the console are the stepper motors that control your dampers on your hvac. When you switch from top to bottom vent or from defrost to bottom etc..those little motors are what moves the "Damper doors" and allows air to move from the vents up top to the floor or vice versa..if thats not what they are they look identical to everyone ive ever seen,. i cant tell how big that first pic is..it could be the airbag module.

Steering one is for locating the center of the colum in a corvrtte. the first guy has the correct idea for the black box.
Why do you want to keep all of the parts for your swap?

Sorry I forgot the harness is out of a 98 C5 Vette. I do not want anything that I will not need. I already cut out the stereo system wirings, ABS and air bag systems. Next will be the HVAC system. I also forgot to mention that I want to use the C5 instrument clusters so that I won't have to convert any of the sensor.
What functions does the Body Control Module control? Sound like I don't need the green ring around the steering column.
Thanks for your help guys..

If they have 8-digit part numbers on them, enter them at gmpartsdirect.com, and you might get a description. Or, you can go to yahoo or google, and enter just the 8-digit part number, or put "GM" and then the part number, and you'll get hits that have descriptions.
