Default water neck on ls1

anybody make a water neck to change the angle from the water pump that`s not $100.00 like s&p. man hate to spend that kind of money for a water neck mike

Nope. I looked. You could probably modify the OEM one make one though. LS1s installed in truck engines have different oulet but I think you have to change out the water pump as well.

Speaking about that I got a meierze pump from a member and the thermostat is in the outlet instead of the inlet like stockers are will that work or do i need to change it?

For the upper nck you could remove it, drill & tap for an AN fitting. For the thermostat housing you could cut off the hose part and weld on an aluminum AN fitting but that will cost almost as much as S&P's swivel neck.

I modified the inlet to point straight out instead of directly at my control arm. You can cut it off after the thermostat, rotate it and weld it back together.

what do you think of this idea. put a spacer between water pump and water neck,rotate the water neck to where i need it drill 4 holes in the spacer,tap 2 of them to bolt the water neck to the spacer and the other to to the pump. or tig new tabs on the water neck where i need them ? i have one to play with because i can`t use it mike

Man, I have dorked with trying to modify a neck a couple of times, and always had a buttload of time in it, and it still wasn't exactly what I wanted when I got done! I think that the selection of neck angles and the swivel function, makes the S&P necks a real bargain. I am a fabricating fool, but I will never mess with one again!

I tried that, but the thermostat seals against the waterpump making it impossible to use a spacer.

I cut mine then took it to a welding shop, they did a great job. No leaks after 1500 miles.

I bought one from CSR www.csr-performance.com that is all billet straight neck and uses a standard Chevy small block thermostat for $35.
