Default LS1 In MKIII Supra

Has anyone ever put an LS1 in a MKIII Supra? I have owned two MKIII Supras and have owned my turbo one for about 2 years. I love the Supra, but it just lacks the torque and throttle response I must have. I plan on putting an LS1 in it with the T56. Any help/advice or photos of such being done would be greatly appreciated.

This very topic has created quite a controversey already do some searching in the forums and you will see what I mean. I say go for and as far as I know it has never been done. The 2JZ is a highly proven engine especially in turbo applications but you are right in sayin there is no low end torque and the dyno sheets read more like a 2 year old scribbling.

He's asking about a mk3 supra (1986.5-1992), not a Mk4 TT like the other thread.

I'd say to do it if you want big power/torque or want something different., but if you're not loking for huge power I would stick with the 7mgte. Once you change the headgasket it can hold some decent power (im pretty sure the internals are good up to at least 400hp). Also, the 2.5L 1jzgtte fits in very easily.

Yes, I am talking about the 7M-GTE Supras. The last thing I want to do is go for less displacement with the 1JZGTE. I want to do an LS1 because I have an really good information resource (know someone at TPiS). I also want the fun bottom-end torque. And also, I am not into drag racing much. I want a fun car with maybe 550hp at the crank when I am done. I know Supras can do that and beyond but with a shitty curve.

I do know what a 7M can do also. I have had one for two years and was laying down probably 300rwhp+ and it felt slow. The 6-Speed is quite welcoming as well.

From what I can see now I will need to make a custom driveshaft, motor mounts and tranny mount and also electric fans. I do have a Supra Walbro 255lph pump, I am assuming that will work with the LS1? I have also found those universal LS1 motor mounts on ebay interesting. I could just cut off my current mounting tabs on the subframe and weld those in.
